i'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about the a10 tournament yet.
not sure how i feel about facing gw again. i was kind of hoping la salle would get matched up against uri or fordham in the first round. it's very hard to beat a team 3 times in a season. gw played well their last 2 games, beating st bona comfortably and almost winning at duquesne on saturday. bishop and buchanan are going to get theirs but la salle can't let them go off and have monster games or one of the supporting players to have a big day. it will not be an easy game. as usual, i think the line will tell us a lot.
and if the team is fortunate enough to win that one, i like their chances against st bona. st bona has been an average team when playing away from home.
and if the team is fortunate enough to beat st bona, a well-rested loyola team will be waiting. that would be a huge test, especially playing for the third day in a row, but if la salle takes care of the ball and doesn't let loyola's physicality play with their heads, then i think they can make a game of it. they would have to go in with the mindset of knowing they're going to get fouled a lot and to be strong with the ball. they should not expect to get much help from the officials.

(Made this a general thread). GW is bad. A loss there would be bad. La Salle is on the good side of the bracket though.

GW stinks. Need to go 2-1 in this tourney to have a 500 record. Anything beyond is a winning record and gravy. One and done and it's basically groundhog day.

We should beat them handily. That being said, I agree that it is difficult to beat a team 3 times in a season. We (and Vegas) also felt that St. Louis should have been an easy win and that didn't turn out too well.
If we get past GW, I love our chances against the Bonnies too. We are playing well of late and could beat them again.

La Salle -2
St. Louis -2.5
Davidson -3.5
10/15 game has tightest spread.

Probably betting all favorites. Fucking depressing that Saquon is an Eagle.

He’ll likely be decently successful with the Eagles because he’ll be in more of a position to succeed but any Giants fan who thought they should give him that kind of money to keep being the focal point of double-digit loss teams with a litany of holes everywhere else needs their head examined.

Probably betting all favorites. Fucking depressing that Saquon is an Eagle. Yeah, that's a real waste of good money that could have been spent on the defensive backfield or an offensive lineman. Barkley has been injured too often too give him that kind of money. Terrible deal.

Only took 8 posts to get this thread off-topic. That might be an Explorer Town record.

When he rips off a 60 yard TD at metlife next year, I don't want to hear you commiserate with me. I didn't want to pay him. There's 30 other teams I'd rather see him play for and wish him well than the Eagles.

The concern I have about Barkley is the wear and tear on his body running behind that pathetic OL. Maybe he won't be so injury prone going forward without having to fend off tacklers behind the line of scrimmage or at the line of scrimmage.

Back to the topic at hand: We're basically in an "Anyone but Dayton" mode for this tournament right? Obviously assuming the Explorers don't go on a run.

Back to the topic at hand: We're basically in an "Anyone but Dayton" mode for this tournament right? Obviously assuming the Explorers don't go on a run. Yes. If you take the log 5 projections from KenPom, there is a 61% chance it's anyone but Dayton to win A-10 tournament. Dayton is a lock, so that would get conference two bids. Any discussion of 3 bids is unrealistic. Even if you give Richmond wins over St. Joes, VCU and a loss to Dayton, I don't see the conference getting 2.

How is Nova in with 17 wins and there's no shot of Richmond getting in unless they win the A10?
Fuck 10-10 in the Big East if 4 of your wins are DePaul and Georgetown.

Villanova is almost certainly not in without winning 2 in Big East Tournament and that will get them to Dayton. I don't think Richmond will get in without winning A-10s. You can venture over to www.bracketmatrix.com/ which has Richmond as the final team in the field before any bid thieves are factored in. If neither Dayton nor Richmond win A-10s well there goes another bid. Richmond's team sheet is tough to defend. bracketologists.com/teamsheet/richmond-spiders

When we lose UMass next year, it's time to go back to a 16 game league schedule. Play each team once and 3 teams twice.
Or we can keep playing this game.

Dayton, Richmond and Loyola are all game. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. If Loyola beats Dayton again and Richmond wins the tournament, all 3 are in easily.

This is embarrassing....while there's a decent crowd on hand for Davidson-Fordham, you can tell piped in crowd noise is being used to enhance it. 😆

This is horrendous basketball. Davidson with 13 1st half turnovers but somehow up by 8. Fordham shooting 1 for 9 from behind the arc.

Yeah I realized I should have cleared that up. If it was between St. Joe's (of PA) and Dayton and somehow it was a double or nothing where if St. Joe's (again, of PA) won they both got in, but if Dayton won then no one in the league got in, I'd be wearing one of those stupid leather pilot hats that Dayton fans wear.

Davidson just shit the bed. I would cue up a choke thread if I were on a Davidson message board. It's only been 9 years since my infamous choke thread.

Good 1st game between Fordham and Davidson now in OT. I thought the basket that sent it into OT for Fordham was a bit of a travel, but refs let it go.
