On Khalil's IG, Jack Clark told him to stay at La Salle. Is Jack regretting his choice to leave and now be at 3 schools in 3 years? I don't think Jack is going to give the hundreds of thousands he made in the last couple years BACK though. Easy to say stay at La Salle when it's not your money. If Brantley is making what is being reported, you tip your hat to him for holding out and wish him the best. La Salle isn't going to compete at that number and shouldn't for someone at Khalil's level.

There are countless tales of lottery winners blowing through their money and suffering mental health traumas years later. Exceptionally telling that you equate these to lottery winnings and not salaries.

Need some young blood on this board to combat the people who whinge on this board. There's nothing better than aged Winers....😁 It's funny that you should say that as right now, I am in Porto, Portugal which is the home of aged wines (Port). I'm a big fan of Port and have a stupid amount that I have collected. They're usually no good unless they're aged, so I suspect I'm an aged Winer.

If someone could just give me the winning numbers to the Powerball or MegaMillions, I'd be happy to test this theory out.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but we have blown past the "Ed is transferring" thread and we're still going strong. I don't think any other thread was this long, so congrats to everyone on here including the aged winers.

I think it’s great Jack Clark is there offering advice. For what reason, who knows so you can speculate. And I appreciate your gold rush analogy. But the reality is that these kids don’t care about many of the things folks on the board do…at least not to the same level. Perhaps they want to have a sense of accomplishment or finish something they started. But priorities change as folks get older and who’s to say Brantley’s goal WAS to play in the tourney or maybe play in a certain conference etc. Perhaps he’s accomplishing that goal because it was not something La Salle could provide or was ever in a position to offer? Maybe he had several goals and he knew to achieve them it would require 1 or 2 stops. Who knows but it honestly would be foolish for him not to take advantage of the current situation, or market. You’re literally asking someone to walk away from potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars when most of us would leave their current job for a fraction of that.

Brantley has high major offers... Big 12 is SUPAHIGHMAJAH!
High major yes. Super High Major? No. There's Kansas and then everyone else in that conference. Super High would be Big 10, SEC and the ACC IMHO. The Big 12 is a step down, but still very good. But kudos to Brantley for getting the big $ in a very good conference (just not SUPAHIGHMAJAH).

To be clear...I'm not faulting him for taking the money and jumping. I'm speculating on what the longer-term effects of all this is going to be on people who are 19 - 24 years old, and I'm doubting the agents have the player's best interests at heart beyond their own financial gain.

Are they employees of the school or of the collective? Let's start the process of getting work visas for all the foreign players then, and have the players pay city wage taxes.

Lottery winnings are taxed too. agreed. But you specifically used the word "salaries". Salaries go to employees and is "earned income" subject to earned income tax. Is that your stance...that these student athletes are now employees getting salaries...essentially professional athletes?

I said nothing about taxes, I simply pointed out that you analogizing NIL to a lottery win rather than earned income is a tell about who you think should receive money and who shouldn't.

What's the tell? I've stated on here I'm OK with NIL (when based on its original purpose). Curious why you can't answer the question posed multiple times as to whether they are now employees...but I suppose your use of the word "salaries" is the tell there.

By definition they are employees. They are not independent contractors. Either way they should be pay taxes on the funds they receive. They are employees of whomever is paying the funds if it is paid on the up and up.

Ironically, Kansas was the lowest ranked team in the Big 12 this past season at 19. Houston (3), Iowa State (8) and Baylor (16) were all ahead of them. And in-conference, Texas Tech and BYU finished ahead of Kansas. It was a stacked conference this year. That being said, I hate the Big 12. No logical reason, I just don’t like the conference. In terms of football, it’s a really good conference. Really hard to argue with Del on where this conference stacks up other than, again, illogical reasons like I have. I still favor the ACC despite the obvious that it’s not.

All good points by GlitterBro. We have to "peel back the onion" and follow the money on the NIL issue. Money corrupts.

If so, are they employees of the school or the collective? Is their tuition and meals then a taxable benefit ... what about clothing and shoes provided by the school? Peel the onion back.

They’re not employees of La Salle. They’re gig workers of the people that pay them.

If you're threatening to stop complaining about everything here and start doing so on the Duquense board and I'm like "no way, I can't let Glitter leave" and I offer your $275K to stick around, are you an employee of the board?

I'm not a Big 12 fan either... But that is a SUPAHIGHMAJOR Conference... Arguably the finest basketball conference in the nation...

This insufferable banter that you and Joe promote based on naked political bias here is pathetic. Stop with this simple group think please. I get it that you are some guy from NY/NJ (high propensity for being a DB..TBD).... many of us here actually hold degrees from LSCH and La Salle University (and had parents and Grandparents that actually grew up in Germantown) with pride... people like you make it harder than it needs to be. Grow the hell up.
