Not surprised Gill is in. Hopefully we can retain him, but I think someone higher up would like to add him as a defensive guy off the bench.

I don’t see Anwar transferring up. If anything he should transfer down.

Transfer down candidate.. 5th/6yr COVID players do have some advantages in that the coach knows the commitment is for a year.. But with 4 years of data.. Best to move down.. Transfer up guys are offense oriented.. Say like Nickelberry who had multiple P5 offers… Maybe American or Howard would be good fits.. He can become an alpha in his last year..

I'd like to see him in Blue and Gold next year, but can't fault him if he leaves. Thanks for all you did, Anwar.

In my humble opinion, Gill is addition by subtraction. I personally have seen him dribble into the lane with 3 defenders there only to turn it over way too many times and no jump shot to boot. Good luck but happily goodbye.

Here we go. Shepherd now.
LaSalle G Daeshon Shepard (@dshepherd022) will enter the transfer portal, he tells TPR.
The 6’5 Jr. averaged 10.6 points and 5.6 rebounds this season!

After watching him this season, he’s my fave current Explorer. Good player and fun to watch. Hope he’s just checking what’s out there and returns.

He brought some flash & excitement we haven't seen in a while. I also looked forward to the magic Brickus brings with his game. Hope he's here next year.

Like Calipari, I agree that every kid should enter the portal. There’s no downside.

after the late season resurgence and the win over gw, i was feeling optimistic about the state of the program. i really thought anwar and shep were near locks to return.
what a difference 5 days makes.

I hope these players coming out is not a pre-cursor to Dunphy not coming back.

DAMN, Gill and Shepherd in the transfer portal. I hope that both of them stay with us. If not, thank you for the four and three years of the great LaSalle memories (Gill should be graduating in May). Now we wait for Brickus and Brantley decision.

As talented and athletic as Shep is, I wonder if he can truly find a better situation. Nickleberry only played 9.3 minutes a game at Fl State, Hassan Drame averaged about 11.3 minutes at Duquesne and while his brother averaged 21 minutes, his minutes declined as the season wore on. Shep is practically guaranteed 30 plus minutes here and will be a central part of this team. It's hard to believe that he will get a bigger role elsewhere. Now. If it's about NIL money then it's not fair for me to comment since I'm unfamiliar with his economic situation. I do hope he returns as he has attained near legendary status as an Explorer!

He was my #1 "gotta keep him" dude. I'm sure he'll have many options, I'm not sure he'll have options that will guarantee him 30 plus minutes with a larger role than he has here. He may be okay playing fewer minutes elsewhere if he's looking to move up to a power conference but I'd be surprised if he can find as many minutes as he has here and as many shots.

He was my #1 "gotta keep him" dude. Is the 35% upside your opinion? I haven’t seen anything from him to indicate he’ll shoot 35%. I think he tops out at 33% but is likely in the same 30%. 2-3% seems minimal but when someone is going to have even more limited opportunities offensively at a higher level then it makes a huge difference for an individual player. Guess that asks the question: What’s his priority? Shepherd isn’t going to the NBA but he’ll have a career overseas after he graduates so if he continues at La Salle or say FSU and gets minimal PT it won’t impact his pro career much.

If the shooting ever really clicks, he definitely has nba upside. The 35% is my opinion and I’m not gonna quibble at 32 or 35. On a team where he is a fourth or fifth option out there…he’ll be open more.

If Dunph is back, which I believe he will be I expect to see Shep return.

Heck, I don’t even believe he’ll improve much, if at all, from his 30%. Not saying that it won’t, just don’t believe it will. There’s not a scenario I see him being on the same tier as Ramon Galloway or BJ even if everything clicked.

I'm going to say you're both right? If he learned to really shoot, he's an NBA player because of his athleticism, but the odds of that happening given all we've seen to date are closer to 0% than 10%.
