We are engaged with another big but he more akin to a Rokas than a Lilley.. 88 and I are of similar mind regarding him.. Our engagement is not public so there is no sharing.. With this domino falling I assume we hear something shortly. We are still in with a couple true power forwards who have not committed yet. One that is more akin to junkyard dog which I personally believe we needed badly. Additionally, as 88 said, the Greek should not be expected to do much. He is really a rebounder/sets picks/plays defense. I am not creating a play to feed him the ball to go 1v1 on someone. So for the people playing at home both front court and back courts have taken material hits in the last 48 hours. this big that is akin to rokas, if it's who i think it is, imo he would be an improvement. he was underused at his previous school. he's more mobil and aggressive than rokas and has better hands. i hope we have a real shot at him. the combination of him and lilley would keep this team competitive up front. if khalil is moving on, there are multiple guards la salle has been in contact with who have not committed yet. there are at least 4 of them i hope the staff is still actively involved with. get one of them to replace khalil and it will take some of the sting away. as far as the power forwards go, right now we technically only have 2 scholarships left so if we got this big and a guard in place of khalil, someone on the current roster would need to go if the staff wanted to add a power forward so a hard decision may need to be made. dunph can't afford to carry multiple practice players again. he needs to be able to go at least 8-9 deep in order to move this team up in the a10 standings. Yes you are thinking of the same profile I have in my head to describe him. I agree he is a couple years older than Rokas which has advantages. 88 has the legitimate concern that he did not do much at a much worse program and conference. No accolades, etc so those concerns are legitimate but I still think there is something there. I believe a few of you have sworn off European bigs so as Dunphy continues to recruit them I continue to worry about said posters. Dunphy is going to break you or you will break your love for Dunphy. Overall being that Rokus was three years younger, he still has the higher upside which is why it would have great to keep him. Keeping big men are always a valuable commodity but especially to schools like La Salle. They just don’t make many of them. But La Salle is not gonna compete with Big 12 schools.

coaches aren't going to tolerate that with practices and offseason workouts. I've yet to read something about "So and so coach told me to get lost" but it has to happen...right?

This just drives home the fact that money has destroyed college sports. NIL, TV rights, all of it has led to the bastardization of college sports. Greed is rampant in the NCAA's.

That’s a new coach. A story as if Fran told Khalil, a guy in the portal, to get lost.

Just looked at Washington State roster. 11 entered portal. They have 2 HS commits and 2 current Freshman on scholarship. They're probably even more desperate for bodies than us but doesn't look like a team headed for success. Not sure it's an environment for Brantley to prosper but I guess there's money there.

Looks like Brantley has not eliminated coming back to La Salle. I hope Fran is not holding off others that may want to come for an answer from Khalil. He has been at this long enough and time to make a decision.
From Jon Rothstein:
La Salle transfer Khalil Brantley has cut his list to the following programs, per his IG page.
La Salle Utah Washington State

With the significant downgrade in the conference, all of their sports have really been gutted. I remember several headlines involving football just a few months ago. Separately, the Washington State and Oregon State agreement with WCC is only 2 years. There is still a lot of unsettled ground here. Just really hard to recruit a possible 4-year player. But who knows seems like everything is year to year now.. But stating the obvious, for OSU and WSU, no more Pac-12, no more "Pac-12 caliber" athlete.

Would you now consider Wazzu a mid major now?

Would you now consider Wazzu a mid major now? I don't know... I don't think you can. WCC is definitely a mid-major conference, but I don't know what happens with WSU. It's a large state school with a large athletic budget. I imagine the athletic budgets come down in the next 18-24 months as their efforts to create a new conference under the Pac-12 brand struggle to produce something TV executives want to pay for. Those schools will certainly NOT be bringing in the money they were a few years ago. So it looks likely that WSU and OSU are headed there but I do not think you can say that yet. It's a really sad situation for those schools. The speed of dissolving of the PAC-12 is one for the ages. Coaches at those schools are having to quickly readjust the caliber of athletes they go after. The sales pitch of "Hey, come to us. You can go to a Pac-12 school and get early playing time here vs going to Oregon or Washington" is long gone. So, I guess in that sense, they are competing more with St Mary's, San Francisco, and San Diego for basketball players than they are with Oregon and Washington, which feels weird to type. You just had a former Washington State player (Jakimovski) move to Colorado just a few days ago. From yesterday: www.athleticbusiness.com/operations/governing-bodies/article/15669625/oregon-state-and-washington-state-see-exodus-of-players-as-pac12-implodes

Either coming back or headed out west. A little strange for a kid from the Bronx to head out there, but I guess if the money is right...

I do not think he'll play the same minutes at La Salle that he will at Washington State. They currently have like six guys on their roster. Four of them are freshmen.

You can only play 40 minutes. Brantley will play 35 minutes for us. The playing time means zero .

So how about getting 20 shots off vs 12 a night? I agree it's an NIL issue but maybe he wants to be a #1 scoring option, which he would not necessarily be if he stayed and had to share the load with Deuce.

I can't believe anyone would select Malibu over 20th and Olney. Judging by the quantity of discarded Malibu Rum bottles I used to see lying along the sidewalk or in the street during my time in college, I can only assume both locations have the same vibe.

this is a big guy the staff was in touch with. i saw him play a couple times at monmouth's beautiful new arena and i could never understand why king rice didn't play him more. i knew bigger schools were going to get involved. to average that many points and rebounds in a little over half a game is impressive, no matter what level you play at.

Brantley's instagram story today shows an airplane and the caption, "CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA". I assume he's visiting a school down there. Lunatic will go crazy if it's Davidson. Other ones down close to there: UNC Charlotte and Queens.
