I'll ask the pertinent question: will the court continue to reside over a pool? That answer is yes and there should be consideration to expand it from 6 to 8 lanes. It is possible I am told. This would be the perfect time while they are blowing out walls. The pool I am told is a money maker for HS and Club meets. We expand it to 8 we can then hold District meets which is another enormous event ($$$). Also there is more stages I am told to this project than what we saw from these pictures. Stay tuned. Funny I remember saying something prior to Ashley taking the job that facilities would be addressed in the process. Time for everyone to put some skin in the game.

I’ll try to add a little more info (but don’t have any inside info beyond what was in the presentation. To an early question the pic outside is the view from Olney Ave. In terms of timeline I don’t really know but to put it in perspective this it is my understanding that this is phase IV of the comprehensive plan – phase I (Connelly Learning Common – the library) would be expected to be completed spring 2019… phase two the path across campus (this looks really nice so just calling it a path undersells it) doesn’t have a date of completion on in powerpoint presentation, nor do the others. I don’t even want to speculate when this would be done (again IF it is approved and funded). Since people seem interested I’ll add the other pics. Also, since the Pres reads these post - it seems others are interested in the campus plan etc maybe there is a way all can see (again don’t want to share info – at least beyond bball – that should not be shared). As in, more projects campus-wide or not enhancement to Hayman/TruMark.... like dedicated parking for The Lunch Truck

I'd like to see capacity expanded, but beyond that, everything looks good.

Without knowing the full details of the renovation and going off the posted pics, my one quibble would be the scoreboard over the court. I assuming there would be video boards of some sort in the end zones up top, and if that is the case, I'd lose the scoreboard over the court. Along with the heating and lightning upgrade, I hope they also upgrade the sound system.

I'm not gonna be critical of any aspect of the renovation whatsoever. I think it's perfect*******. Lets Go!

They better put the big 'L' logo on the court, and plaster it everywhere else possible. Leave that Explorer logo behind. i agree, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. Agreed. And it's not that the Explorer logo is bad - albeit not great - but that 'L' logo is a knockout.

This retro-fit of the court and stands may look nice, but the benefit is only for fans and the varsity teams. It does nothing to address the biggest issue regarding athletics on campus: that there is only one gym. As a result, all club and rec activities have to be squeezed in between varsity sports. This situation gets even worse in the winter when outdoor teams use the gym as well. Unless there is something to the plan of which I am unaware, I was hoping that the university would have avoided this kind of small thinking, which does next to nothing in the long run.

Am I the only one who sees a major problem with "a huge L at center court"?

did you look at wister's follow-up posts? there are plans to put a fitness center on the second floor of trumark looking out over olney ave. a pub will be on the first floor below it. not sure if a bball court will be part of that, but drexel's fitness center has one and la salle and the architect supposedly were modeling some of their plans on drexel's sports complex.

A fitness center is not a gym, so far as I am aware. Kids can't go there to play some pick-up.

Those could be good developments. Either way, I suppose a court under the stands can only be used when the stands are retracted. Currently, moreover, the department does not like to move the stands back and forth due to wear and tear on the motors. I am not sure if this is an issue with the motors they have now, or an issue in general. And finally, as it stands now, there are two courts under the stands (one under the east and west, respectively). These do not alleviate the gym crunch, even when the stands are retracted.
Edit: But I agree, a court in the fitness center would be very helpful, and nullify my comments.

There is a comprehensive facilities master plan (title of this post) that I alluded to back in May. Practice and rec facilities are a part of that COMPREHENSIVE facilities master plan. Not even announced yet and people are on here finding fault with it because a few pictures aren't showing them exactly what they want to see.
Let's at least wait until the final thing gets approved by the Board and the capital campaign is announced before we tear it down on here, shall we?

Since this is still some ways from being "in Progress", my only comment now is PLEASE do this right this time and let's not build something that is outdated from before the first shovel is put in the ground!!

Rather than complaining about how a bunch of teenage-basketball players aren't living up to my expectations, I am saying that the plan ought to improve the experience of all of La Salle's students. What we've seen so far does not, but as I've kept saying, I do not know everything. But let me tell you that right now, court time is hard to get. Any plan that does not address that is concerned with the "front porch" alone.

Put this baby at center court and we're cooking with gas That's the one I was talking about in my post (that went who knows where?). The only differences were the flag said "La Salle" and the Explorer was standing on three books. I like the current Explorer logo, but this one is better.

This logo, but modernized a little would be cool. Not modernized in the usual sense of making it "fierce" I just mean cleaning up the art and colors a little, but still this general idea.
