There is no letter from the US Attorney’s office. His lawyer says he was told that by the US Attorney’s office. Not quite the same thing. Well if his lawyer is not lying than it is a slam dunk hire. Lucky for us that lawyers and Rick Pitino's assistants are always the most honest, genuine people on the planet.

So we're reverting back to the "La Salle can't be trusted to make smart decisions" mentality? That was quick.

Very true, I just can't imagine they would hire the guy if they found any wrong doing. Evan Daniels a Fox Sports Reporter also tweeted he was fully vetted by La Salle and that the FBI has said he is not the subject of their investigation but he is however one of the best recruiters in the country and formerly the highest paid assistant in the ACC. I am excited.

You’re all crazy. Let’s start looking at this like a big time school. The guy is good. He’s been dinged. Let’s hope he doesn’t get dinged again.

If you don't think the other A10 schools aren't shitting their pants looking at our coaching staff and our renewed abilities to recruit, you're crazy.

We are swimming in the deep end of the pool. If you want to make omelettes, you have to crack some eggs. This is how La Salle hurdles some of its obstacles and challenges.
It's time to start thinking big time Division 1 basketball.

This can be a landing place for him for a few years to shake off the shackles of the Pitino stuff and move on with his career in a clean program and prep him for landing a head coaching gig down the road. It's a good hire. The guy can coach and has credibility. If the investigation reveals more over time then so what? Cut our losses and move on, but otherwise we get a gem for a bit.

I have no problem with it. When you think Louisville, you think Pitino. Had no idea who Kenny Johnson was prior to this thread. From what I understand, he's not abusive, didn't hit anyone, no conviction of any kind. Just under investigation. So I imagine at this point, he's not going to do anything stupid, and try to stay under the radar. Bigger question is...if he was getting paid $550K at Louisville, what's Ash paying him? I have, and a lot of others, have heard of Kenny Johnson before this.... A MASTERCLASS recruiter... I mean "Count on 1 hand" best assistant coach recruiters in the country.. What I am intrigued about now is that Ashley and Kenny are playing in a different sandbox.. Can they pull the same level of recruit that they were recruiting before?? I feel warm inside to say.. Yes, I think they can.. Separately, it only takes a couple players and there are only 5 guys that take the court... Lastly, Ashley would know Kenny's situation plenty.. Asst coaches on the road hang out with one another.. They go to the same tournaments, AAU events, etc.. They literally still next to each other and talk and watch basketball for hours and then get dinner and drinks afterwards..

There is no way they are pulling the same type of recruit into La Salle because of the facilities. What is promising is they don't have to. We need a better level recruit than we are currently getting and better coaching. I would be happy with fringe Top 150 kids with a sprinkle or two of Top 150 and great coaching. That will push our success in the A-10 and with that success additional doors should open. I just hope La Salle supports the program with improved facilities soon.

Still stung, but now I'm believing the value of his scholarship is more now than it may have been with him. Nothing against Osun, we just have two top tier recruiters.

I see a plan coming together. This year is likely a punt, even though you have Carter coming in and a couple guys returning. Bringing in Beatty, probably another transfer, and maybe one other 19-20 guy, but I think the class of 2020 is going to be where we start to see the biggest uptick in talent. To me, anything that happens in the upcoming season is a bonus. 19-20 will be a step. 20-21 will be a leap.

WOW! Excuse my copy and paste.
Johnson came to Louisville in 2014 after two seasons on Tom Crean’s staff at Indiana. While with the Hoosiers, Johnson established a reputation for being one of the top recruiting assistant coaches in the country.
Before becoming a college assistant, Johnson was already a formidable presence on the AAU scene. For six years he served as the vice president/assistant director of basketball operations for well-known AAU program TeamTakeover.
This is significant.

Fringe 150 works for me. Between Ashley’s contacts here and Kenny’s in DMV, we will be in great shape.

I would be perfectly happy with him signing guys from the HIgh schools and conferences he was an assistant at. Hello WCAC!! Great programs. Other DC AAU players he can get are gravy.
