What position? Bigs are needed. The wait is killing me.

Anything updates on our recruiting for the 2016 class? Roman's Tony Carr verballed to Penn St. Other players who were offered have cut LSU from their list such as Dylan Painter, LaMar Stevens and Jaron Jereux (sp?). Not sure about Deandre Hunter but he seems to leaning elsewhere. I think that the transfers in waiting will keep some players from committing since they see that they may have to wait for playing time.

No surprise whatsoever about Carr (for baseball fans has the same injury as Roman Quinn I heard). Painter or Stevens too. Hunter was really never on the radar screen.
My guess is that G would be more inclined to look for front court help rather than back court in 2016 HS class.

I hope that isn't a nagging injury for Carr. He is a high major talent. It was only a matter of time before his recruitment took off. But Pat Chambers paid a steep price to get him. He's basically giving out three scholarships to get him. He gave one to Nazeer Bostick who I like but he's a borderline A10 player at best. He will struggle in the Big 10. Lamar Stevens is a legit A10-level player but he's borderline for the B10. I fully expect him to commit to Penn State also. Chambers has some other good recruits that would make up a very good A10 team but IMO he just doesn't have enough talent to jump into the top half of the B10.
I know that the La Salle coaching staff liked DeAndre Hunter a lot and early on felt they had a shot at him, but once B.J. Johnson committed, I'm pretty sure they backed off. By that time, Hunter was starting to blow up and chances were slim he would have come anyway with all the high major offers he's gotten since.
G has 3 scholarships to give in 2016 (replacing Rohan, O.J., and Khalid). I'm pretty certain one will go to a big man. My guess is the second could go to a guard (but it will have to be a special player) and that he'll hold the third just in case a quality transfer becomes available.
Right now, the main big man targets seem to be Brock Bertram, Mark Gasperini, and Sag Konate. I'm sure there are others.

Braxton is a blast form the past. He transferred out after the first semester of his freshman year. If I am not mistaken he was Joe Bryant's nephew, now cousin to Kobe.
You want to know what happened to Speedy at La Salle......Ronnie Braxton was a poster child for Speedy's recruiting at the end of his tenure.

Good history with La Salle bigs at TX SO. Not even sarcastic, the last one played well with them and got them to the tourney. Hope Jermaine gets some minutes. They could start 5 seniors this year which isn't too impressive considering there's 17 kids on the roster now. He's got 2 years left of play time and he'll be sitting out. The ol' 7 year plan, wish I had figured out how to do that one.

Lamar Stevens is much more than just an A10 level player. High level player that has a lot of skill sets to work with.
I knew we weren't getting Tony Carr. Bryce Aiken also cut us from his list as well.

Jermaine Davis was an enigma from the start. He was about 7th in scoring on his High School team. I believe we took a flier on him just because of his size. Used to watch him in the layup line and his footwork wasn't even good then. Highly doubt he ever gets even decent minutes.

Tertsea is the kind of guy I'd try like hell to close on a commit early.
LooKs like he does fundamental things well and is not a highlight reel guy, yet at least. He could blow up during the season and get serious power conference interest.

Same is true for Konate. Gasperini has dropped La Salle from his list and Marfo already has offers from all over the place. If you don't get a big early it seems like he is viewed as a project.

I think G dropped Gasperini rather than the other way around. Looks like an outside shot at Konate and almost no shot with Marfo. With Henry on board we need just one big with some potential.

Verbal Commits still lists Chris Baldwin and Brock Bertram in the mix. Where do we stand with them? The video of Bertram makes me think that he is a project.

I think we are still in the mix with him. I would love to have Chris Baldwin but he looks to be out of reach. Kid is a warrior. He is undersized which may push schools away but he is the prototypical Pitt recruit. Fits their scheme and type of kid. Reminds me of the kid from Williamsport about 10-12 years who had a stellar career at Pitt who's name escapes me right now.

La Salle hasn't been involved with him for a pretty long time.

I would pencil either Konate or Marfo in for either 2017 or - more likely - 2018. When they transfer.
Also, what is more intriguing - LaSalle's Minnesota connection or the connection to the south?

Looks like La Salle has offered big men from Mali, Nigeria, Australia and Apple Valley Minn. Really going the international route for next year.

I love how there's no template for G. Seems like he's always willing to adapt to the market and he's not stuck to a specific plan

Lamar Stevens to Penn State per zagsblog.com. No surprise. Philly sports writers need to stop giving Chambers and his program so much good press.

John Giannini obviously has connections to Maine, Illinois, and Florida.
- Both Peterson and Majstorovic are from Lee Academy in Maine.
- Demetrius Henry and Cleon Roberts supposedly played with each other before as previously stated in the "Summer Sit-Down" video on goexplorers.com. Pookie Powell is also from Florida.
- Karl Harris is from the De La Salle Institute in Chicago. Additionally, Giannini could have assisted Khalid Lewis in securing his scholarship at Illinois, as it is his alma mater. He was also an assistant at Illinois for 2 seasons.
Strong correlations definitely exist in the way Giannini has been recruiting.

Michael Tertsea to Rhode Island. Visited La Salle a couple of weeks ago. Chose the Rams over GW according Adam Zagoria. We weren't even mentioned.
He visited Rhody with Cyrill Langevine who we are also interested in. This commitment should keep Rhody off of him for us.
