I believe Chesny played with Cannon, Durrett, Woldarcyk, Dunphy, Taylor and Williams in 69. They were solid players both Woldarcyk and Chesny but only because their supporting cast was outstanding. I don't think sky King ever played a minute at La Salle but could be wrong. How bout that great leaper Billy Pleas who played in early 70's.

I could be wrong, but I do not think Isiah "Sky" King or Billy Pleas played one minute of varsity BB. Actually, I'm 99.99999999% certain.

69 I am pretty sure Billy Pleas played one season of varsity and then transferred or asked to leave because of academics.

Not much recruiting talk in this new recruit thread. More reminiscing than anything.

Not much recruiting talk in this new recruit thread. More reminiscing than anything. One more reminisce: Back then schools had freshmen teams so players could only get three varsity years. Also Lew Alcindor "no dunk" rule was in effect. (would love to have seen Durrett vs. Porter with dunking). Finally, I was present at West Chester for the La Salle 69 team's final game. There was someone who really stood out in the freshmen/JV game. He was a 6'4" to 6'5", very smooth and a tremendous leaper. He toyed with everyone else making it seem like he was a man and they were boys. I believe that was Billy Pleas. So I guess he was either a year behind Durrett or couldn't play varsity due to academics?

Pleas entered La Salle in 67-68. He was on a Freshman team with Durrett, Greg Cannon, Bobby Walsh, and Ronnie Kurtz. The entertainment value of those freshmen games was off the charts. The walk down memory lane can be bittersweet.

Multiple sources are reporting that '16 SF Lamar Stevens 6-7 from Haverford School will transfer to Roman next year. La Salle is on his list presently. He is a Top 75 player. Will team up with Tony Carr and Nasir Bostick.

According to Josh Verlin at COB, La Salle has shown interest in 6-3 '16 Kobe Gantz from Lancaster (PA) J.P.McCaskey. He had 26 against Roman in AAAA semis. Averaged 17.8 last season and a very 3 point shooter. Others showing interest are Drexel, Temple and SJU (PA).
This is also the first weekend of AAU ball. Big tournament in Virginia Beach at Boo Williams Center ( the former SJU (PA) star and huge player in AAU). La Salle assistants are mentioned in Josh's piece about them following Team Final from Philly.
EDIT: I made a mistake and corrected last name to Gantz.

Get us guys who can either shoot consistently from the outside or big guys who can control the lane. Mid-range game has all but disappeared.

Speaking from the First State...Delawareonline has a nice article on Eric Ayala regarding his participation in the FIBA Americas U16 Championship games in Argentina. He averaged 19.6 pts, 6.8 rebs and 2.8 assts. Looks like he played for an undermaned Puerto Rico team.

La Salle has also offered another 2017 guard from Delaware. 6'3" Myles Cale from Appoquinomink HS who plays for Tim Legler's South Jersey Jazz AAU team. He was one of the leading scorers on the Under Armour circuit. Temple, Delaware and Towson have also offered and Maryland is interested.
