Aside from the obvious "cool, we landed another commit" vibe, someone tell me how to feel about this? And without looking, was this our last 2017-2018 scholarship? I hear what you are saying. I may have held that one back. There would be no reason hold a scholarship now when there will be 6 spots to fill the following year when the current junior class graduates. Once BJ and his classmates depart you are left with Pookie, this year's 3 freshmen and next year's class of three. That's 2 pg's who can score, 3 sg/wings and 2 bigs. While it remains to be seen how good this group will be they do represent a solid core with all positions covered. This will allow G to focus on talent/potential without having to fill a position for the following year.

I've gotten to the point where I trust G's evaluation on talent.

One reason is that unless someone in the program transfers out, we are out of the transfer market this year. A transfer would sit out the 2017-18 season and be ready to play when BJ et all graduate. This came to mind for me by us filling the last scholarship, especially with the way coach likes to get transfers. That said, it sounds like Dajour Joseph has some potential and it is nice to welcome him to the school and the program.

Joseph did not play at all last year in HS. He had something like a high ankle sprain. For those referring to the 2 star rating. That is a default rating when they have no ESPN, Scout or Rivals rating. Which makes sense if you didn't see him play last year. Dajour did play last year. He was picked as Player of the Game twice in January and was listed among their leading scorers for multiple games between November and the end of January. Nothing after that though. I saw some game video from February and he was not in it, so I'm assuming he got hurt in late January/early February and missed the last month of the season Thanks for the fact checking. My source, who you think would know, told me he missed the whole season. Sorry.

I'm pretty certain that holding that scholarship for a transfer in the spring was seriously considered. The fact that they didn't confirms to me just how much G and the staff wanted Dajour.

G has never been reluctant to hold a scholarship if he felt the remaining prospects weren't the right guys. I interpret this signing exactly as kjmac says. It's a great sign of G's confidence in Dajour's potential to contribute. I can't wait to see what his 16-17 season looks like.

So, correct me if I'm wrong here, but does this mean the staff essentially shifts its focus almost entirely onto the 2018 class?
I don't remember the last (if any) time we had a full boat of confirmed scholarships on November 1 + a full roster that is active and eligible to play. I know Cian is a redshirt, but if he had to he can play.
Time for a new thread? Or is this one full of too many good vibes?

Because if good vibes and a positive attitude continue, I won't know what to do with myself. Legitimately though, time for a 2018 and beyond recruiting thread? Jamir, Miles, and Dajour gave us reason to skip 2017 altogether.
