If a couple of those freshmen turn pro, they're mercenaries and Coach K is really evil and terrible and awful and all that Calipari stuff, right? I don't need the one and done stuff to hate Coach K Coach K is scum

I feel Sick (again):
- Just watching the introductions you could see that Wisconsin was made up almost entirely of Wisconsin kids and guys like Frank the Tank who made himself into a ballplayer through enormous effort and tremendous coaching. No HS All-Americans all over the place. (Even the frosh Allen who hustled all over the place for Duke was a HS All-American - the first signing and felt to be below the others in his class). So the fabulous coach K has the all americans while coach Ryan has working class over-achievers who he has molded.
So you have that, BUT THEN WHAT REALLY UPSETS ME: The three most crucial calls in the last 9 minutes ALL GO DUKE'S WAY.
- At the nine minute mark Winslow is guilty of an obvious charge. They call a foul on the Wisconsin player who established perfect defensive position. It would (should) have been Winslow's 4th foul and give Wisconsin possession when they were up by 4 or so. Instead Duke sinks 2 free throws.
- At the three minute mark Winslow gets an offensive rebound but his foot is CLEARLY on the baseline so he should have been called out of bounds. Instead, he passed it to a teammate from out of bounds and I think they scored on that possession.
- With just under two minutes left, a fought-after rebound goes out of bounds at Wisconsin's end. They call it off Wisconsin. Raftery and the rest get a # of good views and can see it was off Duke. The refs - looking at what must be a 15" screen monitor do not see it and don't change the call. Why doesn't the NCAA have a big screen monitor upstairs for these reviews if they've made a rule that this stuff can be reviewed in the final two minutes? Also, why did the f_cking call go Duke's way in the first place?
.................................................................. The conventional wisdom is that they don't want referees determining the outcome, so there is always a focus on the end of games. Well, the refs did a pretty good job of doing what they could to contribute to the outcome in the last nine minutes.
It's not as though the programs like Duke need any f_cking help to win all the time. The Duke's, Kentucky's, etc of the world have already done enough to destroy college basketball as far as having any "other" team having a chance to win.

I can't believe Joe DaRosa was a referee last night. Actually, I can believe it considering Coach K completely worked the refs in the second half. The team with the least fouls all year in the double bonus for about 1/4th of the game...
He's so bad I know his name. The best refs are the ones you don't notice because they're anonymous and fine and don't do anything to stand out. But that guy is truly awful.

The Duke's, Kentucky's, etc of the world have already done enough to destroy college basketball as far as having any "other" team having a chance to win. Blah Blah Blah, I can't stand Duke. I love when VCU, Lehigh, or Mercer knocks them off. And I think Allen is going to be the new Greg Paulus/JJ Redick, hate the face Duke kid. But I could give 2 shits if Bo Ryan coaches all Wisconsin kids, McDonalds All Americans, transfers, or any combination thereof. This is college athletics, it isn't public high school. We're going to have 2 Eastern Europeans on our team next year, 2 or 3 transfers, and probably only 1 or 2 Philadelphia area players. My point is, you recruit who you recruit. Bo recruits players to fit his system, K recruits guys for his system. I do think that Duke got a favorable whistle in the 2nd half. I knew when Wisconsin had a 7-2 foul discrepancy at the end of the first half, that Duke would get a favorable whistle in the 2nd half. The icing on the cake for me was the replay which showed the ball going off of Winslow's fingertip, and they still called the ball out on Wisconsin, even after looking at the monitor for 2 minutes. All that being said, Wisconsin had a 9 point lead, and failed to close it out. They inexplicably stopped going to Kaminsky in crunch time. In short, they came up small down the stretch, and Duke made the plays they had to make to get the win. What makes it interesting, is that Wisconsin beat Kentucky, but they were ready to play last night...I thought the Badgers were well prepared, they certainly didn't overlook Duke. But they were outplayed down the stretch, and they were outplayed by a younger team. The weirdest part about this tournament for me is how Duke quietly steamrolled through this tournament. When's the last time a Duke team hasn't been hyped? It simply doesn't happen. If anything else, Duke is usually over hyped. This year, it was all about Kentucky, Wisconsin, etc, hell, ND beat Duke twice this year. But Duke answered the bell last night, they've answered the bell for the past 3 weeks. To say otherwise is just letting your hate take over the conversation.

Coach K has his choice among the players who are begging to go there. Not so with Wisconsin. - It is very, very hard to close out a game when two extremely crucial calls go against you (AND ARE INCORRECT) in the last three minutes. - BTW, I thought Tyus' three pointer to stop a Wisconsin run was the singular most important shot of the game. - And yes, I have a lot of hate for Duke.

I turned it off with about 8 or 9 min left. Wisconsin was in the driver's seat and then there were several calls (fouls on Wis) that really had me wondering... and then the attrocious Winslow charge non-call. I turned the game off at that point. I did not think at least 1 of the refs was gonna let Duke lose.

All that being said, Wisconsin had a 9 point lead, and failed to close it out. I'd say they choked.

Kentucky is losing 7 early entree guys to the NBA draft...that's nuts. Will they be an NIT team like 2013 after they lost Anthony Davis (Nerlens freshmen year), or will they reload?

Latter. Lots of top 20 prospects still out there, presumably for this reason.
