Boy oh boy ... [stifles grin] ... sure do feel bad for St. Joseph's of PA. Same conference, same city, Big 5, really feels like a little part of us lost too ... [smirks] ... proud of them either way, represented well, hope their heads are held high ... [laughter] ... Glad they're out. Hope the dick who was here when they got their 1 in the season's 1-1 is taking it hard. I'm glad they r out too. I don't think I could of handled a sju-nova matchup. I feel bad for the sju players but can't root for them bc of their fans as you make reference to. It was kind of best case scenario for those of us rooting against them. They lost, but weren't embarrassed, and honestly showed that they should have won. So it wasn't like they didn't belong out there or anything. And SLU wins. I got my perfect night with regards to the A-10. Hoping realistically for 2 out of 3 tomorrow.

A! 10! The A-10 is "Phil Martelli sorta maybe chasing CJ Aiken away from college" away from being 3-0 right now.
St. Louis is the most unenjoyable team to watch, not counting Wisconsin.

Not thrilled about the Hawks loss. My bracket was still perfect up to that point.

Those of us who weren't rooting to St. Joe's are getting called out by some St. Joe's fans on the A-10 board. Look, plenty of La Salle fans were rooting for the league tonight, which I guess is the "proper" thing to do. I don't like St. Joe's, or their coach, or the way a lot of their fans act, so I rooted for them to lose. I never said I don't think they're good, or their fans are bad people, or whatever. I'll say what I said earlier, who I rooted for tonight has absolutely no bearing on what happened, so it really shouldn't matter.
I didn't troll any other board, or celebrate like it was La Salle winning. I didn't want one of our biggest rivals to win, and posted about it on my own message board. I also have a hard time believing *all* St. Joe's fans were rooting for us last year. So if that makes me a bad guy, or a small person, or whatever, in the eyes of some people, I'll have to live with that.
And for the record, one of the main reasons I root against Temple and St. Joe's is their success brings a direct increase in the amount of shit I have to deal with on this message board from their fans looking to kick something and deciding to come kick us. So there it is. They had a hell of a year, and that had to have been a brutal loss tonight. I don't think the fate of the A-10 was determined by whether St. Joe's beat UConn tonight or not.

Yep, the night we fell to Wichita State I immediately went over to the Hawk droppings board to see who was with us and who was against us! This is insane! Who cares who La Salle fans root for in our hearts and on our board!
FYI. Thread on Hawks board rooting against Nova.

It would be utterly pathetic if some SJ people read this board tonight (and the small amount of revelry in SJ's loss), then ran crying back to their own message board over what was/wasn't posted here. Seriously, get a life.
On one of the old boards, in the days of absent or ineffective moderators, we'd have those shitheads running over to taunt us every time we lost (never more than the night Fordham knocked us out in 2006). It's probably all the same assholes who are grousing tonight.

I'd now like to take this time to point out that "rooting" for something has no effect on whether that thing happens or not, so for people who were rooting the Hawks tonight because of the A-10, please don't get pissed at those of us who weren't. Because all in all, it doesn't matter what we wished for. Stinks SLU is not going to keep up their end, because I don't have much faith in GW or UMass tomorrow, and a lot of people think VCU could be in for a tough one (although I think they'll win). Some great predictions tonight..... I love March Madness.

I should point out its only 1 or 2 guys. And I'll also point out if you're a La Salle fan bragging about this in person, or on the A-10 or St. Joe's boards, you're being a shithead.
But on our own board? (And again, it's at best a split) People were just saying who they were rooting for. And I HATE UConn, so its not like I'm thrilled they won either.

I'm ashamed.

I haven't seen any La Salle fans doing that, except a few people being happy on our boards. I feel like a lot of people on the A10 board have an axe to grind against our fanbase because of about two people on there at the beginning of this season. Looks like one SJU fan looking for someone to be angry at (which is ridiculous, they had a great season, even if they let this game get away) and that's about it.

Really awesome to see Manhattan give a bunch of black eyes to Louisville. I thought the Jaspers would have done some damage in the A-10 this year.
I'm bummed the rest of the country doesn't get to see The Holy War. I'm no Martelli fan but I certainly have a lot of Hawk grad friends. It would have been a super good time at any of the area Chickie's and Pete's or what have you to watch that game.

Watching the Jasper's, Dayton, nova SLU and SJU today, it's no wonder we were basically a .500 team. We played a lot of really really good teams this year.
GO Christian Bros.!!!

Louisville has Russ Smith and Luke Hancock. That's the difference in the game. Just two really good players who don't blink under pressure and the difference between a MAAC team and a powerhouse like Louisville.

Things are right in the world again. Admittedly disappointed in the SLU outcome but I'm glad I won't have to get the NCAA edition of the holy war forced down my throat for the next few days. I'm glad SJU won't be able to add "2014 NCAA tourney matchup with Sweet 16 on the line" to their "Villanova is our biggest rival" ammo. Also glad I won't have to remind everyone for 48 hours about that time Villanova ran them out of the building this season (en route to Big Five sweep), while being told "but it's the tournament - things happen that don't make sense".

I have more hatred for UConn's success than distaste for Phil and Halil, and I was really looking forward to a Big 5 game tomorrow. If I'm a St Joe's fan, I complain about something else.
Can I expand "A10 teams" to include former member Villanova? I'd like to get an opinion from someone why two of their losses were blowouts to Creighton, and the rest of their schedule had only one loss before MSG. Is it match-up problems they experienced? Will they reach Elite 8 as their seed suggests they should?

Will they reach Elite 8 as their seed suggests they should? McDermott and Creighton are quickly becoming Nova Kryptonite, but McDermott creates matchup problems for pretty much every team. And that one loss at the Wells Fargo was the most impressive offensive display all year, starting 9-9 for three, 21 total from deep. IMO they've got Elite 8 talent, but they've got some very tough teams on the horizon. Sail past UConn, but that Iowa State game is going to be great. Think the bow out there, Ejim and Co. share the load too much, spread it out far too much for a Nova defense that can be spotty.
