And you guys should chill a little with the Final 4 stuff. This year was a phenomenal, remarkable run, but even getting back to the Sweet 16 in the near future is very unlikely. The goal next year is the tournament, and you see what happens from there. Nice piece of analysis. NPOA2

That metro rag is reporting today that Hurley turned down 5 yrs for 5 mil at Rutgers to stay at Rhode Island. Let's assume that is correct. Hurley is their first choice. Would they offer G the same deal? I say no. If we know that is the high water mark where does La Salle have to be to make the decision for G easy to stay? 650K, 700K?, 750K? I thought before this fiasco came to fruition that La Salle would pay G up to $600K after the Sweet 16 appearance. I think they would go to $700K if they knew G would stay. Over 700K?......I don't think they do it. BALL IS IN LA SALLE'S COURT!!!"Fiasco" pretty strong words. Why because YOU think so? Another unfounded shot at La Salle. La Salle now has multiple NCAA units for the next 6 years. They now have money to pay G and his staff significantly more money. In my opinion, they could use ONE unit just for G. Published report in USA Today had his salary as #37 in the NCAA tournament at $425K. Take one unit payout over the next 6 years and you EASILY reach $750K in the 6th year. Anything more than that will require the big donors (some of whom wanted G fired after telling the Face of the Franchise to hit the road) to step up. They were willing to do that for Dunphy.

Thanks. I shake my head too when it's not clear who he was referring too. Can't blame me though. It ended with BALL IS IN LA SALLE'S COURT. What's the implication there? Same old tired mantra.

No it's your quick rush to judgement which you do all the time. Not everyone wants to murder La Salle like you seem to imply.

Plus, with G in the mix at Duke it will help keep our series with them alive. It has been a long tough week. Thanks for making me laugh.

It has been a long tough week. Thanks for making me laugh. It seems like only yesterday that Coach Westhead was young and a hot commodity. Now, he is a 74 year old coach who just completed a 4-27 season with the Oregon Women. Maybe Lincoln would start off by saying:" Four score minus six years ago Mrs. Westhead brought forth to this continent the Guru of Go." I find Westhead to be a fascinating character and think that Rutgers should offer him the men's coaching job.

Wouldn't it be nice if they made the announcement Tues night that G is locked up for 5 more and we are getting 2 more studs.

Wouldn't it be nice if they made the announcement Tues night that G is locked up for 5 more and we are getting 2 more studs. I've been hoping all along that the plan has been to announce a contract extension for G at the banquet. IMO,the place will explode if they do, and it would be something G would always remember. Can't announce any player commitments though. Spring signing period doesn't start until Wednesday.

I kind of like the idea of getting one stud (probably a power or small forward), having a good year- perhaps winning a game in the tournament- and then having a monster recruiting year 2014-2015, with up to 5 recruits.

Interesting observation about Jordan in the article: "... because the Princeton offense is a good fit at a school like Rutgers. It’s great to run the dribble drive motion offense of Kentucky when you have that kind of elite talent every year. But that’s not the guys you can recruit to Rutgers (no offense)." Could G's variant of the DDM offense be a disqualifier?

Welcome home Eddie, best of luck to you and I hope you have a long career. .....,, so who is going to start the next "we will never win with G" thread?

Welcome home Eddie, best of luck to you and I hope you have a long career. .....,, so who is going to start the next "we will never win with G" thread? Well if the goal is to be as pessimistic as possible, I think a "we will never resign G" thread is more appropriate. Once the deal is signed then we can start with the latter thread. And sprinkle in a facilities thread somewhere.

I guarantee a facilities thread by midnight after the banquet.

Meaning which: There will be an announcement on a new facility, or there won't and it will be a rather depressing thread?
