Celtics win in 5, 106-88, for their 18th title. Now we have to stomach the Bronny James draft talk for 10 days. Gotta hand it to the kid, he was like 98th on the big board a month ago, and a great vertical jump, a good 3 point drill, a half decent scrimmage, and clutch's propaganda machine, and the guy moved up 45 spots. Steven Smith would have been a lottery pick with Clutch's PR department back in 2005.
If you were out on the NBA, these conference finals and finals weren't bringing you back to the association. Aside from the Lakers and Lebron saga, it should be a fun summer.

Every time I watch Tatum play I am sorely reminded of how the 76ers utterly blew that draft pick. It epitomized their overall terrible and failed basketball draft decision making.

So he's their Tobias Harris? Tobias is paid like the 3rd best player on our team but most nights is only 4th or 5th best

I know but my time to make fun of the investment in Tobias Harris is almost over. I'll stretch once or twice more on those kinds of jokes I bet.

2nd worst contract in Sixers history.
Worst contract was the ben simmons max extension.
So many swings and misses in this Process era.
Even giving up Shamet and all the draft picks for Harris was terrible at the time.

They have a chance to add another awful contract in this last gasp "how can we make last year's MVP an actual winner" offseason.

So many swings and misses in this Process era. The process era ended the second the nba killed the creator of it. Everything after that day invalidates calling it unsuccessful.

They have a chance to add another awful contract in this last gasp "how can we make last year's MVP an actual winner" offseason. Instead of signing Jimmy (my favorite NBA player) in 2019, the buyers remorse of a trade with an extension in 2024, would be the totally par for the course with the Sixers. I just have nightmares of what a 38 year old Paul George or a 37 year old Jimmy Butler paired with a 33 year old out of shape Embiid. It's going to look like Patrick Ewing at the end of his career, barely able to get up and down the court.

To be fair, after the first 7 or 8 minutes of the Q1, Embiid already has trouble getting up and down the court.

Dude was the most dominant offensive player in the league and the clear frontrunner for the mvp until he got hurt.

Probably also helps your regular season averages when you can go five years without playing in Denver's altitude

I'm 208, and very tubby right now. Probably 50 pounds over my "fighting" weight, and 30 pounds over my acceptable, in shape weight. So I'm the last person to call out somebody for being too heavy.
However, I'm a 40 year old dad, on paternity leave, whose life consists of coaching 2 softball teams, shuffling 2 kids to softball practice or games at night, swim practices every weekday morning, and soccer 3v3's every Wednesday night. That's eating whatever, burying either Summer Shandys, or Cape May Cranberry Bogs, and not hitting the gym or doing any cardio at this point in the year. Over the next week, softball will be over, over the next month, 3v3 will be over, and over the next 6 weeks, swimming will be over. I will be back to work, and my diet will clean up, my drinking will slow down, and I will get after it with cardio and lifting and be back in the 180's.
Here's my point, college and professional athletes should rarely, if ever get out of shape. Their bodies are machines, and it's how they make a living. That goes for Brett Myers, David Wells, Kyle Schwarber, Vogelbach, Donovan McNabb, Donyelle Marshall, Iverson, Baron Davis, James Harden, Zion, Embiid, Joker, Luka, etc... there's just no excuse for it. It's the equivalent of a surgeon, pilot, or crane operator functioning on little to know sleep.
Long term, it shortens an athlete's career because of the extra weight on their joints. Short term, it hurts their performance because they can't stay on the field or court as long. Donovan McNabb literally ate himself out of the NFL.
This is coming from me, a guy that's had an unhealthy relationship with food for 20+ years due to losing weight every wrestling season in junior high and high school. So I'm pointing the thumb as often as I point the finger.
Currently, if Embiid misses 2 weeks, he may as well have missed 2 months. Conditioning is very fixable and it's been a problem for years now with Embiid. It's his job to be in shape.

Do we need to call in a check the welfare on Legler after JJ Redick got hired by the Lakers?

Randy Woods showed up to the Clippers heavier than your 208 after being drafted in the first round and they were pissed at him. Wanted him down to 180 as a 5-10 point guard. I forgot that Larry Brown was his coach there. www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-10-27-sp-1018-story.html

Do we need to call in a check the welfare on Legler after JJ Redick got hired by the Lakers? JJ signed a 4 year deal. What are the odds he outlasts Lebron's remaining career? The Lakers are a clown organization.

Its an overpay in a bubble but I'm sure the logic is that this finishes off the roster so if you're paying an extra 1st to do so, you do it. And if it doesn't work, the FO making this trade will be long gone before the aftermath.

I don't think the equation changed all that much in terms of Bridges in, Bogdanovic out.
