NCAA just passed a rule effective immediately that all players who wish to transfer must be in portal by May 1 including grad transfers. This doesn’t mean they have to commit by May 1 but it at least closes one side of the portal for a bit.
I wonder how long it will take for a lawsuit to challenge that rule? I think that could easily be overturned.
Yeah, that doesn't seem right to not have the times match. Some super loyal kid could have two transfers come in at his position post May 1st and he's not allowed to react?
Yes as soon as it negatively impacts an SEC school there will probably be a lawsuit. SEC has banned inter conference transfers in football through the fall but now just throwing bags at kids outside their league.

got to love the ncaa, sneaking grad transfers into the may 1 deadline a couple days ago.
what i am most excited about is not losing the coaching battle almost every night.
I think he has to. La Salle has not announced him either which may hint to preferred walk-on. From what I understand, the staff thinks he is one of the best shooters in the area.
Wondering how the portal communication process works. Do schools let players know their scholarship may be gone if they are close to signing a replacement to a scholarship? Does this sometimes result in players leaving the portal and returning to their teams?

It makes sense for him to go to Nova from a familial perspective. He gets paid and can keep his kid around his family for support.
Who knows who is offering what.. but the numbers have not gotten smaller over the last couple of weeks!
It is obviously sad. There were murmurings a couple of weeks ago that maybe he would come back, but he served his time. He single-handedly carried the team to a .500 record. I could not imagine how many games we would have lost a year without him. Instead of Dunphy having a bottom-half team, we were probably staring at a bottom-quartile team.
When most of the Ashley recruits had departed, he stayed to help Dunphy and school through a transition period.

unless they give him a monster nil deal, the family situation would be the only upside to nova. does he really want to use his last season playing for neptune (and ash)? he already went through two years under ash, trying to run his "offense" (or whatever it was that those teams used) and being left alone on an island on the defensive side of the ball. i'm sure nova will buy themselves some decent players out of the portal but as of now, their roster consists of longino, njoku, perkins, four freshmen and armstrong if he pulls out of the draft. they're going to need to hit home runs on all 4-5 portal guys they bring in so they can even have a chance to overcome the coaching deficiencies.
Del is implying that Nova offered Brickus 350K... that's the bag. Walking with probably 190-200 after taxes. That's the bag.
Does he start for Nova? Is that what they’re giving their backup guards?
I think most, if not all of these teams, are fucking nuts. That's excluding my opinions on NIL, portal, the whole 9 yards. If I were running a collective, I guess I'm the de facto team GM.
I don't know what Nova paid Whitmore, but his car would've been on a tow truck.
I can't fathom paying 3 million for 1 and done in the NIT. For that matter, 3 million and anything with NIT besides pre-season NIT is a fireable offense.
An NBA GM would be fired. Coaches would be fired. The Bucks fired Griffin with a 30-13 record and a 2 seed in the conference. They hired the worst accomplished coach of all time, have a losing record with rivers, and are about to get bounced as a 3 seed. That GM should be fired. We'll talk more about that in the NBA thread.
Back to the NIL shit, when is this going to be treated less as a beef and beer, or second collection for a Catholic Church to get a new roof and more as a business with consequences?
Because these numbers are stupid and should have true consequences associated with them, either with the head coach, or the GM (collective manager).

Higher education is notorious for no consequences. The "shareholders" are hand-picked trustees. You can see numerous current and past examples of that. NiL is just an extension of that to some degree.
