I just can't see this getting done in time. ash puri has gone on the record multiple times that they are on schedule to be finished for the start of next season. he has even said it may be done by september. could it be delayed? sure, anytime you have a big construction project, things can happen but he's not going to say that now. i do know from sitting in gola this season that the hvac issue has definitely been fixed. for the first time in years, i haven't felt like i was sitting in a sauna for two hours. i also assume a lot of the electrical and other infrastructure improvements are either done or will be done prior to the heavy lifting. and if it is delayed, i feel pretty good that he already has a solid backup plan in place. so far, this guy seems as buttoned up as they come and he would not leave himself scrambling at the last minute. there are a number of solid options in the area should they need to move some of the out of conference games off-campus (palestra, jefferson, arcadia, mcgonigle hall). not ideal but it will work in the short term. Would we go to an all road game nonleague schedule?

Apologies if this has been discussed over the months since the original announcement, but with the orientation of the court changing, will there still be room for practice courts at either end (as is the case now) and will this still be able to serve the students, i.e., intramurals, pick-up basketball, etc.? I spoke with our IM director and he said they plan to have halfcourts but not fullcourts. We speculated this might mean 3 vs 3 games instead of a full 5 on 5. With current participation in IMs already being at a historic low, it seems like a liability but not a huge priority. I hope we get a phase 2 reno to address this like St Joe's is currently having on its athletic facilities. ash was interviewed at halftime during the espn+ broadcast of either the saint louis or st joe's (pa) game where they not only put that new rendering on screen but they also put two blueprint-type images up there. one was of the new configuration, and the second showed two full courts running the same way the current court does. so they're basically losing one full court for the students. and not sure what phase it is, but the state has already committed $3.5m towards the construction of a student rec center which will be attached to trumark which will sit where e & f used to be. i was told la salle will need to match that number in order to get that money from the state. i do know that state grant is real, but the rest of what i wrote is hearsay but it came from someone who typically knows what's going on. my guess is there are a few people on this board that can expand on this. no idea if there's a timeline to this, but i assume it comes after they completely finish trumark/glaser (new locker rooms, weight room, some other amenities which i believe are considered phase 2 of this project).

Would we go to an all road game nonleague schedule? I expect this...or at the very least you do a homecoming game and try to get a bigger name to come visit. Kick off party. Playing an all-road OOC schedule doesn't bother me in the least, but I don't go to many games.

Potential problem I have not heard discussed. Maybe it was, but I haven't heard. There will still be only one entrance to the arena proper. The stands on the far side will be filled by walking around the court. Could be a real problem of limited egress and exit for large crowd, if and when we have large crowd. look at the rendering. there will be a concourse going around the entire arena behind/underneath the stands with four entrances, one in each corner. Still just two staircases to exit arena??

I should've rephrased my question... would you go to an all road nonleague schedule, with maybe a palestra game mixed in, if it meant picking up significant money for the basketball/athletic department? Be Coppin State for 1 season, out of necessity. I would sign up for it, only because I think everyone would be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Regarding the state grant and the park.. It would not be for exclusive use for La Salle.. But will be used for broad array of recreational needs.. Open to the public
Haven’t heard much of an actual training center where it is dedicated space for athletics there would be practice facilities dedicated for basketball program.. that is what supposed to go over E&F i was a part of a few conversations about that
That was a big Ashley Howard push .. he always thought that was more important then arena… Most players spend time at practice facilities and locker room, etc etc

Open to the public They would be crazy to provide the land and half the money and allow it to be open to the public on their property. There are dozens of reasons why - legal and otherwise

What are the chances we could get the throwback explorer on the court, and remove the lousy 2004-present logo?

I'm curious if there will be live streaming footage of the arena renovation like they had with the Holroyd Science Center when that took place.

What are the chances we could get the throwback explorer on the court, and remove the lousy 2004-present logo? all of the renderings they've shown have the logo on the left at center court. what i would love to see is for them to somehow combine both that and the throwback explorer shown next to it and make it huge. imo, the logo at the center of gola should have been much bigger.

If I owned an in-house sauna, I would totally buy these, add some muffled speakers, and a smoke machine from Spencer's to fully recreate the Gola gameday experience.
