Grad transfers don’t have to abide by the closing of the portal particularly the ones who graduate in the summer Also, Maryland’s John Lamothe has heard from La Salle per Twitter. Really good player. Played HS ball at St Frances Baltimore - same school as Darnell Harris. Would be a great pickup for the Explorers John would be very interesting.. A lot of big schools on him out of high school/Team Durant. Also, a plus perimeter shooter only one high major (texas a&m) on the list of schools that contacted jahnathan so far, which is good for us.

if we can't come up with enough nil money to keep the four la salle guys that went in the portal, how are we going to upgrade to better players? won't the better players be looking for more money? Plenty of players in the portal from P5 who are going to go “down” including players that La Salle is in deep with. Those players would not be even talking to La Salle.. my guess is there are more, but so far, the only p5 players listed by these sites tracking portal activity that have been contacted by la salle are christian watson from miami, derek simpson from rutgers and jahnathan lamothe from maryland. i'm assuming the staff and some players themselves are keeping other names under wraps. the rest of the players in the portal that are known by the sites tracking portal activity that have been contacted by la salle are all mid and low major players, which is fine. some nice players on there that could help us but the competition in many cases is stiff. it's up to the staff to find the players truly interested in la salle and talented enough to help us. there are also a dozen or so other players that went into the portal that i hope la salle would try to get involved with. some who were recruited by la salle previously, and others who this staff has faced over the last couple of seasons. as far as i can tell, no public listing of what schools have contacted these players is available as of now. one thing people haven't focused on is how many scholarships does la salle really have available. assuming deuce and efstratios honor their commitments, as it stands now, there are 10 scholarship players for next season which leaves 3 open scholarships. assuming dunph returns, will he and the staff make the hard call and possibly suggest to a couple kids that maybe they'd be better off transferring down a level, giving him a chance to add more than 3 players? some of these kids couldn't get minutes on a team that badly needed depth for whatever reason and jorge redshirted but no one knows why. going to be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Thanks for keeping up with all the portal stuff so I don't have to. Scholarships are irrelevant if you want them to be, only so much playing time to go around though. Some bigger schools are not giving grad transfers scholarships but NIL/PFP and favoring giving scholarships to young guys if they get in a crunch. Unlikely La Salle is one of the schools that will have the funds to operate this scheme.

How about this for NIL...if you leave a school (other than injury or hardship, you owe back whatever NIL money you've made there and it goes back into the collective for that school. Many companies give sign-on bonuses where you have to stay for 1 or 2 years or owe it back, so the is precedent for this. Good idea....But we'd probably need collection operations to get it back after much was spent... Yeah...or the NCAA regulates it such that you can't play for another school while you have an outstanding debt from a prior collective. Essentially it would be the new collective "buying out" the old one...like a coach's contract in some ways.

Can an NIL deal be secured for Lamothe to change his first name to Jawn?

explorerman will be disappointed I am.. Underrecruited player.. Rams have a good one.. Simple form and repeatable.. 40% 3-pt shooters are premium assets as we should already know but are reminded again during this tournament. He is exactly the type of player we need (i.e. plus shooter from all spots), but the coaching staff never seemed interested. However, there is a large pool of shooters right now looking to move around who are already in college.

explorerman will be disappointed I'm disappointed as well. He seemed like a real nice shooter based on his stats and video. We'll see in a year or two.

Instant offensive upgrade at PG.. Turner does need to play within himself.. Sometimes too much star ball.. That was an issue this year's team, and I was surprised that late into the season, Dunphy still allowed it with common occurrence, it seems he really did not mind... There are a lot of players like this in the portal... Maybe Deuce wants to come home... We can offer him more PT than Temple

Would move to small forward at A-10 level. Made a lot of progress with perimeter shot in his second season. Question for coaching staff is does those jumper stats improve if he is a secondary/tertiary option (ie more of a spot up shooter vs creating a shot off the dribble as primary options often do)…
All-Conference at the MEAC. Time for him to move up somewhere

Phrasing it as “Delaware State (D1)” is meaner than anything I’ve ever said about Villanova or St. Joseph’s of PA.

I don’t know Coach Fran staff looking at some JUCO player to recruit, but there some interesting players in the JUCO ranks. There two players I like is from Triton College is AJ Dixon and Amar Augillard. They both 6’5 combo scoring guard with a lot of toughness. Amar Augillard avg. 22.6 ppg shooting 43% from behind the arc. Amar Augillard had two 40 plus games this year. AJ Dixon avg. 16.3 ppg and shooting 39% from 3’s. They can fill the void if Brickus, Brantley, Shepherds or Gill departed. Augillard and Dixon is balling in the National JUCO Basketball Tournament in Hutchinson, KS. If you want to see them in action, watch Triton (33-2) play against Baton (34-2) in the national JUCO Final. You can watch the game on ESPNU at 2pm eastern time.
