Damn look at that list... Now good luck trying to see which ones are the real schools... For a 3rd team MAAC PG.. Honestly that is amazing... Now I would take him because we need upgrades especially in perimeter shooting... But some of those names... Holy cow never saw him play but i suspect he'd be a very good pickup for la salle or another a10-level school where he'd get quality minutes. but these other schools are just looking for guys to fill their rosters since they'll be losing kids to the portal. if he ends up being able to contribute at the p5 level, it's just gravy.

I am sensing a theme.. Maybe Dunphy does read my messages ;-)
Oh, by the way... Do coaches who have decided to retire or are wavering about retiring reach out and actively recruit basketball players entering the transfer portal, asking them to come there?
You are all welcome...

Hampton forward Kyrese Mullen tells me he’s heard from these schools since entering the transfer portal:
Arkansas George Mason Vermont Radford South Alabama UNCG Murray State La Salle Kent State Abilene Christian Robert Morris Jacksonville State Liberty Louisiana Tech Nicholls Southeastern Louisiana
He averaged 14.8PPG, 8.4RPG and 1.5APG this season.

This doesn’t mean anything with regard to Dunphy. These are our assistants recruiting these kids if they stay here or move to other positions the build the relationships this way. When I see Dunphy is watching kids play I would believe he is coming back or official news he is staying. Right now I don’t know what is happening but reaching out to transfers doesn’t necessarily mean he is coming back.

In pro sports, you have entire scouting departments to know basically any player who is or could be available. How do La Salle, Murray, SE LA, etc all know enough about a Hampton kid to be reaching out immediately. Its fascinating to me.

I just don't believe that Dunphy would recruit kids for next year if he didn't intend to come back.

I just don't believe that Dunphy would recruit kids for next year if he didn't intend to come back. no one seems to know what dunph is going to do, but just because kids are saying they're being contacted by la salle doesn't mean that he is the one doing the recruiting. when ash got the boot, recruiting didn't stop while the coaching search went on. donnie and john cox were out there talking to kids. at last night's archbishop ryan/imhotep state playoff game, a la salle assistant or assistants were there recruiting but not dunph.

I just don't believe that Dunphy would recruit kids for next year if he didn't intend to come back. He doesn’t he isn’t that type of person.. But he is a part of the old guard.. A guard that really hates NIL though.. explorer88 is correct in his comment too.. He got me trying to sneak a cheap one by.. But I have talked to 2 people about this and both have said ‘status as usual’

Another thing. A lot can change in a 75 year old life from November to March. Dunphy certainly could have went into this year thinking he was going to stay past this year but changed his mind after the season.
As I said pure speculation on all of our parts. I wish he would end the speculation with an announcement sooner rather than later.

G had Chris Archidiacono all but signed after a private workout on the Friday he was let go. Coaching staffs will recruit regardless of the future of the head coach.

It seems that we are being much more aggressive in reaching out to guys in the portal this year. I think this is the 4th person we've been mentioned as having contacted. Hopefully that also indicates that we have some NIL money to offer.

It's gotta be odd on some level to be an Ivy League player hearing from American East, MAAC, A10, and Big 10 schools.

Do you think it's a tampering thing, casting a wide net in hopes to land 3 guys, or do you think these coaches watch crazy amounts of film on these guys? I think behind the scenes, AAU coaches, handlers, friends and relatives, there's an entire loose network of tampering taking place. Guys don't decide to put the feelers out after their conference tourney is over. They know they are either leaving or going into the portal by start of second semester. Maybe I'm wrong. Delgreco would know.

I think in most cases someone on the staff saw the kid when he was being recruited out of high school or through AAU. Many times a kid in the portal will at least listen to someone who offered him in the past. Along those lines I saw Mikeal Brown-Jones who was offered out of high school by La Salle, went to VCU and transferred to UNCG is in the portal. Probably going high major but maybe he wants to come home for his final year. Big, tough kid.
