Met Coach MacGillivray and Assistant Chris Day tonight at a Delaware HS Girls State Tournament game (Padua vs. Kent Polytech. Padua won by 20+.)I assume they were there to see Padua's Michelle Kozicki. I believe she has committed to La Salle. The coaches were very personable...and told me I should get season tix for the La Salle women.
(Still trying to figure out why I went to the game. A friend's granddaughter did start for Padua. It was at the Salesianum Gym.)
There were no Elena's on the court...

Hey, they were genuinely friendly. They are advocates of the women's game. I hope the young lady from Padua enjoys her La Salle experience.

Freshman Claire Jacobs finished the season with 412 points to become the all-time leading freshman scorer in La Salle WBB Program history. Congratulations Claire !

This makes more sense to me now. Assuming that the personnel cutbacks announced by La Salle yesterday would necessarily have impacted the men's and women's basketball coaching staffs, Ms. Guastella was the WBB assistant coach with the least seniority.

Coach Mountain recently spent about an hour & twenty minutes on a podcast discussing a wide range of topics that you may find interesting: how he got his start and his progression in coaching leading up to the La Salle job, his and his team's program philosophy/principles/values, discussion of those individuals who have influenced his coaching style, and a fair amount on his offensive and defensive approaches, even including descriptions of a few drills they run. It may be too long for many, but anyone who enjoys coaching or knowing more about it, should enjoy it. Mountain has a very engaging personality and expresses his thoughts with great enthusiasm. I left the podcast thinking "this is a good guy to be running La Salle's Women's Basketball program." The podcast is run by a girls' BBall coach in Georgia, Kevin Furtado, and is traditionally targeted at HS coaches. Seems like it was a great opportunity for Mountain to spread his and La Salle's program 'story' to HS coaches outside of our traditional markets. The podcast was loud and clear, but there were a few weird/awkward 'production' moments. Mountain's intro was fairly long and almost verbatim to the text associated with the podcast. It was followed by a a fairly long musical "walk-up" song before Mountain uttered his first words after the intro. And twice, with no introduction or break notification from the host, Mountain's recording was interrupted mid-sentence for a commercial message. I guess that's the price of recording on a 'free' podcast platform. All in all, I found it to be an interesting and worthwhile listen. Here's the link:
