With all of the 3's being taken, height at the guard position isn't as important as it was 15 years ago. I must respectfully disagree. If the opposing team's guards on defense are all much taller and playing " in your grill " man-to-man defense, many of those 3's you speak of above never happen.

I have some of the same concerns as gymrat about the size of our guards. Defensively we have trouble with big guards. I, like some other posters recognize some small guards can be enormously successful but they tend to be super quick. How many small, quick guards can you play at the same time can be an issue. If Jack Clark is a true two guard then a true PG that is smaller may work. We just seem to be too small with Pookie, Carter, Beatty and Moultrie at least on defense. Ash tried to get McLeod who would be a rim protector and eliminate some small guards defensive issues. Without that I think he will want to get bigger for trapping defense. He seems to want to play like Villanova and is recruiting length and three point shooters. If he gets some lengthy wings which he may have in Clark Stone, Ray and Spencer a smaller PG and backup may be less of an issue. Believe.

Villanova was known for their smaller relentless guards. However, they always did have somebody to matchup with opposing 4's.
We had NBA sized backcourts 10 years ago. 6'5 and 6'6 1's and 2's.... They constantly got torched by quicker guards.
Our problem is that our small guards can't shoot from outside with any type of consistency. So they are easily defended as teams sag off and pack the lane.
If our small guards could make shots, it would open up the lane for them to attack. We also have Shaggy who's a big guard, and he struggles defensively.

Peddie School has a 6-3 Center that was First Team All-CYO a just few years ago, so don't throw the "competition" BS our way either.

Dixon might be a good Big East player but I really like Christian Ray's consistent high scoring, toughness, and his ability to lead an Inter-Ac team of very smart teenagers.

Peachy. you might want to look at the haverford school's full schedule. inter-ac is down right now, but they've played a tough out of conference schedule and beat a number of pretty good prep school teams like the hun school, perkiomen prep, phelps, scotland school, and the shipley school. all of them have multiple kids going d-1. and it's not like abington is running the gauntlet, playing home and homes with those powerhouses springfield montco, lower and upper moreland, upper dublin, pennridge and hatboro-horsham. ray was also the leading scorer and rebounder for k-low elite, one of the best teams on the adidas gauntlet circuit along with three other d-1 recruits, including dahmir bishop who's going to xavier.

The quote about Villanova getting the better recruits, might be either the funniest or dumbest remark, I have ever seen on this board!😂😝

Ash may have really uncovered a gem just in time before the big boys came digging:
From Carl Berman at NetScouts
Ayinde Hakim @lasallembb recruit from @mtzionprep has been named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2019 National Prep School Invitational #NPSI

Love his game, but I think the big boys would be perpetually scared by his size.
I’m not.

Christian Ray had 21 today in a win over Camden.
Ray also becomes the highest scorer in Haverford school history. Congrats to the future Explorer.

Hope that Christian was able to impress Lance Ware of Camden enough to get him to consider following him to 20th and Olney. Would love to see the big guy in Blue and Gold. I know, long shot, but I can dream.

Coach Ash Howard @coachashhoward 36m36 minutes ago More Coach Ash Howard Retweeted Haverford Basketball Congrats @christian_Ray24 on being named Inter Ac league MVP for the second consecutive season. More work to do! #Believe
Looking more and more like this was a great signing. Never can tell when they take the next step up in level but I love all around basketball players who are tough. We have had too many one dimensional players through the years.

Remember that I said " and vice-versa ". One readily predictable possible effect, I fear, is that it very probably significantly increases the likelihood that Jhamir Brickus may opt to play his college ball elsewhere rather than have to play behind ( his virtual clone skill-wise) Ayinde Hakim, particularly if ( as is expected ) Brickus' recruitment standing " blows up " even more his senior year in high school.

Also offered 2020 guard Deuce Turner from Malvern. Ash trying to load up with athletic point guards. I'm sure he would like to have two skilled points. Brickus acknowledged our offer while stating he was being under recruited. Sounds like he's looking above us.
