Let's not jump on teams for struggling for a half against one team and then losing to another. Nova is one of the best teams in the country and had an off night shooting. It doesnt happen often as evident by their record...

Nova is absolutely not overrated. They deserve to be where they are right now. Good for them to lose a few games now as opposed to losing their edge right before the conference tournament like they did last season. Still respectively one of the best teams in the country.

They were throttled by a run of the mill Georgetown team. I think they were exposed a little bit.

Isn't this just standard past half-decade Villanova? Run through a soft OOC (188th Kenpom) composed almost entirely of home and neutral court games (only "travel was Penn and us), have excused away losses in conference, get a nice east coast seed then get upset out.

They're good but they're not the 4th best team in the country, where the AP poll says they are. This is not a Final Four team. They're deep, they shoot well, they defend. They don't have a superstar, and Arch - their starting PG - is a good for 5 bad shots a game.
Nova is famous for getting bad matchups in the tourney. They've lost to the eventual national champ like 5 times under Wright, including last year to UConn. They lost to both, or at least 1 of those Florida teams in the late 00's. They obviously lost to UNC in the Final Four. I can't recall the others but there are more.

I would love to have Villanova's problems.

AP rankings are absolutely meaningless. Whether there 4 10 or 15 they are one of the best teams in the country.
They historially have gotten bad matchups but I think the team they have currently is one of the best they had since their final four run.

This is a year where they are billed as the #4 team in the country, and I don't see it. They lost at Seton Hall, and at Georgetown, not exactly Kentucky and Duke. I don't think Nova can win on the road, which is a problem. In general, after Kentucky, I think college hoops are kind of blah this season. This is coming from a guy that flew to Spokane friggin Washington to watch a Gonzaga-St. Marys game. Gonzaga is ranked #3 in the country and they would get rolled Kentucky, Duke, or UVA. I think college hoops as a whole sport is down, due to all the transferring. I also think that they we ought to give a serious look to going to a 30 second shot clock to speed the game up and make it more congruent with the NBA and FIBA, but that is another issue in itself.

Its a cycle as a whole. The same teams avoid travel and road games at all costs, get blown up as great, have their in-conference losses excused as "being in a tough conference", get overseeded and then bow out. Someday, there will be OOC matchups, like how different divisions in football play each other. Big East teams will have 4 games, rotating, against A-10 teams each year. Two of those four games (gasp) will be road games.

Unless the NCAA committee punishes teams for weak OOC shedules and lack of road games then they will continue to do it. Stinks for us because very few good teams will give us a home and home. Chaney would tell anyone that he wlll go anywhere as long as you then came to Temple.

In general, after Kentucky, I think college hoops are kind of blah this season. I can't disagree more, I just feel like they are dominated by individuals on teams. Travis Trice is great at Mich State, Aaron White at Iowa, Okafor at Duke. I think it is actually one of those years that a cinderella can win as every team (even Kentucky, I'd say) has holes.

Anyone watching Davidson/Dayton?
Davidson runs unbelievable offense.. Light years ahead of the slop we run. Fun basketball to watch. Watching us is like watching paint dry compared to Davidson and Dayton.

Optics, man. If we were a power conference, that would be proof of overall strength and the fact that, top to bottom, anyone can win any game.

We lose to Mason and then turnaround and steamroll GW. So weird.
What G said: There's not a lot of difference in terms of talent on these teams this season.

I hate these quotes G throws out there. It is hard for every A-10 team. So the quote makes no sense and is relative to how hard it is for every team. And yet Dayton wins, VCU wins, GW wins, St. Louis wins or has won. All the fans want to do is win and if those teams can win we can and should expect to win. That is what competition is all about.

Everyone on this board works hard and has a tough job. That's why you get paid. If you can't do your job I guarantee you somebody else will. G better realize this. Life is competition. Like Chip Kelly said " we all rent our lockers here"

Weird night tonight- only one game on a Wednesday, which is usually the big night for mid-week games. St. JOe's beat UMass.
Tomorrow night (besides us) GM-Fordham at 7 (CBSSN) St. Bonaventure-Duquesne at 7.
Friday Night: VCU-St. Louis 7PM (ESPN2)
