Unfortunately Texas Southern is going to win the SWAC. Lets be serious; Murray had to save face and he figured he'd transfer to a small school that is strong within a no name conference.

Why do I suspect that The Cancer Man just kept hoisting shots the minute someone passed him the ball. I hope he ends up playing his pro ball in Cambodia. You know you're a problem when you can't even survive on a Huggins team.

Finally found a place where he can call the shots, figuratively and literally.

He's a young man that had some "issues"... These were well known given the fact that he was recruited while in a "Juvenile Delinquent" placement...
He has graduated from college... LaSalle has had it's greatest success in 20 years since his departure...
Both parties have benefitted from the divorce...
I hope he does well at TSU and has a long professional career in the NBA or overseas...

Moratorium on all Aaric Murray conversation/threads/references? I don't understand the fascination.

He "moved up" to a Big 12 power conference school and a marquis head coach where his act wore thin. Seems like he is moving down and not up. Who's fault is that? Aaric would say it's not him. Probably say it's La Salle's fault. Like when he was asked to leave and said "...he's too good for La Salle." After having EVERYONE try to help him while at La Salle. How many students can say they had as much support from an institution as he did? He better have a Plan B in case pro ball doesn't work out. I hope he can put that degree to good use. I also truly hope he makes something of his life and is safe.

I feel bad for the kid. He seems like a very talented but unstable person. He was born into a rough situation and doesn't seem to have a lot of role models help him learn to make life choices. I also heard from a few people who have known him that he could really suffer from some mental health issues. One might also read into some other issues at hand due to John Lucas's involvement in this, along with his arrest record.
I sincerely hope for the best for him.
The one bad person in this, naturally, is Billy Hahn. I don't think it's accidental Aaric ended up at WVU. Billy's an out-and-out prick who oozes the type to try and get a "revenge recruit" or something along those lines. Never trust a guy whose wardrobe consists solely of black mock turtlenecks.

I also truly hope he makes something of his life and is safe. The young man has spent the past 4-5 months under the tutelage of John Lucas... Lucas has a very Strong record and reputation of helping troubled athletes... He is playing for a respected coach that has led a team to a Final Four appearance... Most importantly, he is attending an HBCU where he is immersed in a culture that will make every effort to build him up and help him attain his goals... Unfortunately, a lot of kids aren't ready to assimilate into mainstream schools straight from HS... I was one, after spending time in an HBCU environment I was more than ready for Delaware and College Park, MD... I know Coach Davis and Aaric is doing well at TSU... A true win-win... He's benefitting much like Galloway and Garland benefitted from transferring "down"... As a faith-based institution, I know most LaSalle alums hope that he is able to pursue his dreams and live a productive life...

So do we start a different thread for each kid who came to the Gola but ultimately wasted his potential? If so, I call dibs on DeSean White!

This. I've grown tired of the traveling Aaric Murray saga. We have more pressing issues which need to be straightened out tomorrow on the court.

"I don't care about 'X', so no one should."
Some of us are basketball fans and I thought it was interesting that he had a nice game. Yes, he drove me nuts as a player at La Salle, but I think many of us are more interested in his career than any other player in Texas Southern history.

Kind of like Billy Hahn's name. Mr. Murray was referenced in a joking way in another thread. Then a frequent flyer from the Hawk Droppings board posts Murray's recent stats. We then have this thread. Enough of these outside agitations. Get pumped for tomorrow morning!

He's benefitting much like Galloway and Garland benefitted from transferring "down"... Please do not compare his situation to Ramon's or Tyrone's. It's not even remotely similar.

Seems like the Explorer population has grown tired of this thread. This will be my final response to PH4L. I will defend La Salle as an institution. Murray had constant help at La Salle. From the President of the University on down. Murray had constant academic supervision. He had tutorial services at his finger tips. I wish my two kids that went to La Salle had the help he got. I know you are a big advocate for HBCU which is great but to make it sound like TSU is the only place to build him up irks me. La Salle and G have a history which I will stack up against anyone. Vern Goodridge flourished at La Salle. He came from a background that might have been worst than Murray's. He discovered Computer Sciences. Yves was an Academic All-American. James Jordan left a country in civil war to come to La Salle and is doing well with his life. Paul Johnson is a lawyer and working in NBA offices I believe. Tabby Cunningham is an accountant (maybe a CPA). Anwar Wilson is a Doctor in NYC. I could add more if you wish.
Murray had every opportunity at La Salle to become a better person and develop his basketball skills to achieve his NBA goals. He chose to throw that away. He decided to be such a negative influence that many of his teammates were seriously thinking about transferring. He decided to trash G and La Salle. It was never Aaric's fault. Everyone else was a problem. I might have a different opinion of him if he comes out and says something like "I screwed up. I apologize for my actions. I understand that people at La Salle really tried help me as a person."
Again, I wished him the best in his life. Well before you used the faith-based reference.

I am a HUGE admirer of LaSalle basketball... I respect the fact that LaSalle graduates ALL of their 4-year players... My point was that some young people, like myself, are NOT ready to transition into 'mainstream' institutions at 18 or 19... The kid was clearly not ready for LaSalle or WVU... For those kids, HBCUs provide an opportunity gain an education in a more familiar environment... At no point, did I ever knock LaSalle... Nor would I ever knock LaSalle.. LaSalle provided opportunities for young Blacks like Jackie Moore and Alonzo Lewis when it was not socially acceptable... Some kids have 'issues'... in many instances these issue can be worked out in an HBCU setting...

No more steering things that way. La Salle simply provides opportunity to all, we're proud of it, and it should be left at that. Now back to basketball.
