So at the banquet Doctor John let something slip that I won't repeat because I didn't ask if I could. I think I'm safe saying that he's working on a high profile rematch from this season with an elite team. The game will be played on a neutral floor not in either teams city but one we have played on before. Don't know when we will have final confirmation on this shocking news.
PS I scattered a couple hints in there.

Neutral courts I would think would come from these four sites.
1. Barclay's Center 2. Madison Square Garden 3. Prudential Center Newark 4. Atlantic City Convention Hall
How about opponent guess? I say Duke ( G was on Coach K's radio show. Both have the Chicago connection. We will be good and Temple could be down. Duke draws heavily from North Jersey- New York area).
Who would you like and who do you think it could be? Maybe moderator could do a poll?

He's clearly talking about Wichita State. Why we would play Wichita State in New York City remains a mystery.

May not be a rematch of a team this season. The arena has to draw a big crowd. How many opponents could La Salle play that you can guarantee will draw 10-12K or more?
G has mentioned using Madison Square Garden before to lure an opponent. I believe he was working on Kansas when the Morris twins played there. Ultimately we traveled to them.

I can think of one name that might file the profile ... FIGHTING IRISH ! Brady said rematch. I would have guessed Butler, and surprised no one else reckoned that.

Wichita State board talking about a game at the Barclay's Center next season. They seem to think that VCU is likely opponent.

Wouldn't mind a mini tourney where VCU and La Salle would go and play to Wichita State and whoever in the MVC to keep the OOC SOS high. Naturally VCU and La Salle cant play so it would be a format where you play the two MVC.. Wishful thinking but it would be fun... Difficult and expensive to rent out for 2 two days..

Maybe one of those ESPN bracket buster weekend matchups?

Maybe one of those ESPN bracket buster weekend matchups? Mentioned a while back, but would love a scheduling agreement with the MVC or MWC similar to the ACC/Big 10 Challenge. Probably wont happen due to TV rights.

I think you will see a couple of agreements from the A10 and new Big East also in order to drive attention away from the ACC and the old Big East (Temple's new conference) at least during the OOC schedule.
The leagues will agree not to raid each other (once the dust settles in the coming months) and each team will play a minimum of 2 or 3 from the other conference.

Random question that I didn't see a need for a new thread: Does everyone make the A-10 tourney next season since we are down to 12 teams?

Well, I believe we're at 13 teams now, but my guess would be either the 13 seed is dropped, or 12 and 13 have a play-in type game to get into the tourney proper.

Per Andy Katz (yesterday): 2. San Diego State built a schedule to go with a possible Big West conference slate. But then the Aztecs were able to stay in the NCAA tournament-bid rich Mountain West. This means coach Steve Fisher felt he had to dial back his schedule a bit. Fisher has asked Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin to put off a road game in Cincinnati for a year. The problem is the Bearcats have to agree and will only do so if Cincinnati can find an appropriate alternative at home. UC can’t just give up a quality home game without finding a replacement. The Aztecs are already playing home games against Arizona and Washington. They go to Kansas and they have the rivalry game with San Diego. They are also in the Anaheim Classic with Big East favorites Marquette and Creighton as well as possible Pac-12 sleeper team in Arizona State. The MWC will have 18 conference games with the additions of Utah State and San Jose State.
I wouldn't mind calling Mick and saying I will help you with your problem. Lets do a home and home (Palestra). I think it is actually a good matchup for La Salle. We do need to add a couple Top 100 RPI games to the schedule since we have lost Temple, Charlotte, Butler and Xavier (all top 100). The OOC is already better than last year's but the conference games take a larger step back. So we need more.

We won't be losing Temple. We'll still play Temple for Big 5. You are correct I almost see this as a built-in bonus for us as a result of Temple leaving the A10. We won't have the risk of losing to them 2x a year + with the Big 5 game we'll get to play them and their likely sub-50 RPI.

I prefer to look at it as "we won't get the opportunity to beat them twice a year". But that's just me.

Yeah except we never beat them, so it's not a loser approach, it's a pragmatic one.

Yeah except we never beat them, so it's not a loser approach, it's a pragmatic one. Not quite "never". Temple owns a 73-40 all time record and has won 8 straight. It had been 20 years since La Salle last went to the NCAA tournament so would it have been pragmatic to expect they wouldn't go this year? Do you review every game based on what is "pragmatic"? If that's the case why play the season at all? **** Also, would it be "pragmatic" to say we won't be able to sign any of the players we are currently involved with based on the schools we are recruiting against so let's just assume we won't get them and move on? You say pragmatic, I say, "loser".
