Lilley looks to have good hands and feet. Not overly athletic. I will take a big man with good hands and feet. Very interesting to see what happens next. We only have 2 scholarships and we have 4 players still in the portal. We desperately need guards. i have to believe at least one more player won't be returning (read between the lines with the lilley commitment) and feel confident the staff will be able to add at least 2-3 more perimeter players who they expect to contribute next season. still plenty of time. I have to think we are going to lose someone else. The balance of the roster is off. We have 4 bigs, 4 wings, and 3 guards. Ramos does not play so we really have just 2 guards. With 2 scholarships we have to use them on guards and still I would question our depth there. We have too many wings (3) with the same athletic skillset. Something else is going to shakeout I think.

Or 2 of Gill, Shep, Brantley and Jig come back. Still not enough. What if it is Shep and Brantley? I would like move on from Gill. I don't like a backcourt of Brantley, Deuce, and Marrero. Not enough for a full season. Shepherd is not a guard. We need another scholarship I think. We need two more ball handlers and we need more size at guard. If it was Brickus and Brantley then I could be on board with that. Even if it was, we still need another consistent scorer.

I haven't seen anything on social media about Brantley or Shep. Anybody have any idea who has contacted them?

I'm expecting nobody to come back. If I'm wrong, great. Joe, you may agree, or you may disagree, OR it may be better as a private conversation.... If nobody comes back, we're a 10 win team vs a 19 win team. Significant difference and a significant Outlook on a season. I think of a all the 10-12 win seasons in the last 20 years 03-04 team was huge disappointment and Thomas got sick with Graves disease 04-05 team gutted by rape scandal of June 2005, still had the best player in the A10 06-07 team was young but stunk and couldn't shoot the basketball. A letdown year for sure 09-10 team was gutted by injuries, but still a disappointment 15-16 worst La Salle team I've ever watched. The fact that we knew what they were before Christmas only made it worse. Either Price or Guillandeaux is my least favorite (good player) Explorer 18-19 Howard's first season... started out very slow 20-21 team stunk and underachieved... made me rethink my opinion of the portal and getting high major kids to transfer here 21-22 Ashley's last year here, probably good that it ended when it did. I'm not prepared to go through these nightmares again.

These are things beyond our control (although more in our control than before, cut a check to the collective!). What happens will happen.

Saying "if nobody comes back we're a 10 win team" without knowing who we bring in to replace them is silly, especially given we're already +1 on P5 players next year versus last.

From the "Philadelphia Inquirer" article:
"Lilley’s commitment would seem to indicate that La Salle isn’t going through a coaching search and that Fran Dunphy will see the Explorers through this rebuild and open the new arena in the fall."
That's good news!

Silly me, I think I share LL's pessimism in this regard. Not real confident we replace what we lose in the portal. Should we lose all of these guys I am not real confident we replace them with near equivalent or greater talent/ability. Would however welcome us becoming this years Loyola. Seems silly to imagine this though.

Saying "if nobody comes back we're a 10 win team" without knowing who we bring in to replace them is silly, especially given we're already +1 on P5 players next year versus last. my take on this is that in addition to adding lilley, who i think will be a good player for us but cautiously optimistic he'll be more than that, people need to remember that even if we lose all four guys to the portal, the collective will then have the money they spent on them last season to put towards new players. my guess is there's more competition for big men in the portal (we got the one we needed already) and the supply of good guards/wings in the portal exceeds the demand. i feel confident dunph and staff will be able to get at least a couple pretty good ones.

I think I said this, or maybe just thought it, but that group (the "generic" 2/3 scorer) who misses out should be a place we target hard knowing its a one-and-gone. No different than Jordan Montgomery taking a show me contract where the value offered on our side is usage and a kid is betting he can cash in. Obviously you have to be careful and not find a guy who would sabotage the system for shots, but its doable.

Also, I'd prefer Brickus stay in conference as long as he doesn't decide he'd really like a part city, part suburb experience. Get to see him play, maybe helps someone make the tourney.

I haven't seen anything on social media about Brantley or Shep. Anybody have any idea who has contacted them? I did see lists for both. Brickus: Wake Forest Texas Virginia Utah Seton Hall Cal Loyola Chicago VCU Richmond Fordham East Carolina Shepherd: Richmond GW St. Bonaventure Illinois State FGCU UMass Northern Kentucky UNCW If I were making decisions for the kid, and La Salle is off the table, I'm going to Texas if I'm Jig. If I'm Shep, it's 20th & Olney again. And Mik, if we have Shep and Brantley back, with Deuce in the fold, probably 15 or 16 wins.... unless Rokas and this Nittany Lion can play.

I don't have any inside scoop but here is my best guess on what could happen
Jig and Brantley go for bigger bucks. If they get it, I can't fault them | We (a) backfill with 2 Deuces, (b) maintain Brantley (long shot) and Deuce J or (c) settle on Jones and Gill (65 minutes) if we can't afford Turner
Shep doesn't come back if he gets bank. In that case, the guy from Abilene Christian or Del State comes in for 27 minutes; Marrero picks up 13 min at the 3 and 5 min at the 2
Tunde (15 min at 4 and 10 min at the 2) and the local kid (Brewer) from Texas A&M Commerce (25 min) split minutes at the 4 spot
Rokas and Lilley primarily split minutes at the 5
This could get you 16-20 wins (20 if Lilley or Brewer can be a solid A10 performer)

I'd be ok with
Brantley and Jones (65 minutes)
Shep or the 3 spot primary transfer options above (27 Min)
Brewer 4 @ 25+
Tunde (25-) and Marrero (18) subbing at 2-4 per above
Rokas and Lilley manning the 5 (40)
Zan could spot some minutes from Tunde and Marrero or the bigs
8-9 deep
