The best part is he will continue to do his radio show. I imagine he pitched it as I can pump up the program everytime I am on the air. If La Salle hires a commentator as their next coach, I want said coach on the air as much as possible. Stay known, stay relevant.

Doesn't this imply coaching is a part time job?

Doesn't this imply coaching is a part time job? Put it this way... Phil Martelli knew how to play the game. Like him or not, there was a method to the madness. This is Martelli on HGH. I don't know how he can do it during the grind of the season, and I don't know if you can do it in the big 10 or SEC... but I'm sure that Green Bay is going to benefit, and I'm sure that La Salle could benefit from the same exposure. ***this isn't an endorsement of Doug Gottlieb If La Salle hired Kenny Smith, JJ, Legs, SVG, JFG, or Reggie Miller, I'd be of the same opinion.

Martelli was a basketball coach. Gottlieb is a hot take merchant who was once a basketball player. I don't even think you can compare him to Kenny Smith or Legs or most of that list (and you could add Barkley and Shaq and all those types too).

Yeah, I'm sure he needed those two weeks to "recruit" the guys who already played for him for 1+ seasons. i forgot all about this thread. turns out, schertz was only able to get 2 of the 10 indiana st guys who went into the portal to follow him to st louis. i guess he could have used a little more time to "recruit". in all fairness, he really only wanted another three of them, so he ended up batting .400. not bad.

I'm sure with just a few more days he could have sold two of them on St. Louis over Texas.

I don't know if this should go here or on the NBA thread, but the Lakers are now going hard after Dan Hurley, 1 day after JJ was all but done.
If I'm Hurley, I don't touch that job. Unless you're Spoelstra or Pop, these coaches have zero job security. Go win a 3rd national title.

The lakers are going to give him 15m a year. UConn can’t or shouldn’t do that.

UConn’s campus transformation and elevation in academic profile is built off hoops. I have family that went there and still go there, the campus is unrecognizable from early 90s. Money won’t be the reason he leaves, it will be for new challenge and less time on the job.

If he jumps, do UConn guys get to enter the portal, or are they locked in now that we are after June 1?

I just thinks this means that Lebron is a pain in the ass to coach. But fuck do I know? Agreed… I think it means Lebron is the real coach, so no one who enjoys coaching will want to coach where he is
