Looks like we are getting commitment soon from a Rider guard. With that being said looks like Brantley is going to Washington State. Change “getting” with “got” Instagram official with commitment this evening.. Will be getting some minutes next year.. if there is one nice part about this commitment is it gives us a true upperclassman point guard.. Backcourt is pretty much set.. Marrero only one returning that played last year but 3 new bodies.. but at least we have starter and depth.. Still need frontcourt depth badly and staff is working there Lost one to Pepperdine, Univ of Chicago and Seton Hall this cycle

I’m truly not disparaging the player, but please sell me on how a 5-foot-10 guard who averaged 8/3/3 in 32 mpg for a 15-17 team from the MAAC is an addition to get excited about. I hope I’m wrong, I really do. But he’s not going to play significant minutes if Deuce Jones also plays significant minutes.

Corey is an experienced, quick, solid college guard... He is a mature and thoughtful young man... He will be asset to Dunph and th Explorers...
Deuce is an exceptional athlete with SUPAHIGHMAJAH talent...
Dunph is putting together a solid A10 roster...

Undoubtedly Dunphy is rolling with the punches. Losing Brantley hurts.

Does this mean Brantley is gone for sure? Washington State. I don't think there's even a scholarship left for him here. The staff knew...otherwise they don't bring the Rider kid here.

Yeah, Corey is a late bloomer.. An A-10 asst coach thought he would be a good A-10 guard. “He will solidify the point guard spot. Can make the open shot if left alone and makes good decisions with the ball. Athleticism is underrated. Murray was fantastic.” Murray was the point guard that played in front of him at Rider until last year when Corey actually got all the run.

I hope I’m wrong, I really do. But he’s not going to play significant minutes if Deuce Jones also plays significant minutes. He is basically the same size as Brantley (both listed at 6'1" on Verbal commits). His 3pt% and A/TO are both slightly better than Brantley's. Definitely not as ball dominant as Brantley tended to be. My guess is that he starts the season as the starting point guard giving Acker and Deuce time to develop since he is the most experienced of the group. One could argue that we have more depth at the position than last year although it is all unproven at this level. The real mystery is Ramos-Sanchez. They must see some potential in him since they let him red shirt last year. However, they brought in 3 new point guards even with needs in other areas. I hate to say it but he along with Mercandino are taking 2 scholarships that are needed elsewhere.

His Assist to turnover ratio is where you want it. I was concerned when I first saw he was the pick for the final guard spot but am coming around to why they took him.
I think he is going to help Deuce to develop into the major player he is expected to be rather than be our go to guy.

between delgreco's endorsement (he's seen rider play a lot) and this tweet from jaden daly who does a nice job covering college basketball in the northeast region, corey seems like a great fit. i think la salle's '24-'25 group of guards will be better than a lot of people think.

Every player can't come in as the new 1A who pushes the last 1A down to 1B. A steady 3rd guard who can truly handle the point would be a huge addition to our roster.

Yep. The school can't assume all of the risk. And while there is currently no stopping this freight train, I do hope that kids get that through their head: going into the portal is a gamble. That's not written from a place of grievance (although it sort of reads that way). But it cuts both ways, as all gambles do. Washington State. I don't think there's even a scholarship left for him here. The staff knew...otherwise they don't bring the Rider kid here. or they got tired of him leaving them hanging. The downside of going in the portal is that your spot can be filled.

If this doesn't get straightened out, I'm out. Not just with La Salle, all of college hoops. I'm like 1 year away from it. I'm rapidly approaching this point... Same here. Even if I wasn’t actually aging out, I am rarely going to go to night games. Also, one of my biggest interests is watching young players develop. I don’t think I am going to see this happen in the next year. If Del’s pump up of Deuce is accurate, he will be here one year max.

I know some on here are saying that we are still looking at bigs in the portal despite having 0 scholarships. Does anyone know if we are involved with Terry Copeland, a HS senior from North Jersey. More of a PF than a 5. It was probably from last season but I recall one recruiting site (On3) giving La Salle the best odds of signing him (over 50%). His video shows a high motor and 3pt range. Reported size varies (6'7 to 6'9, 220 to 240). Listed as a center. The portal really hurts a kid like this who did not sign early.
