i have no idea how good a coach jared grasso is, but i would have loved to see what sherif could do with dunphy as a coach. people forget he was the a10's sixth man of the year a couple years ago. he was turnover-prone but the kid was a player.
what i am most excited about is not losing the coaching battle almost every night.
What’s your point. Do you want to just be a contrarian or are you in denial that Ash sucked as a coach?
My point is that a lot of people on this board, you specifically, see a former player have success in a low tier conference and go ‘Gee Ash really sucked because this player never did this here’ as if the 18 points he had against Fairleigh Dickinson is anywhere close to playing against Villanova or Georgetown.
It’s disingenuous. Or you actually believe that there isn’t a difference in levels. Either way, we’ve done it for every player that’s left in the last four years and it’s exhausting.

I will go a step further... most players that transfer a level "down," proved they couldn't/didn't want to hack at this level. Because of that, they aren't worth discussing. I will give an exception to Carter, who lost a brother to the senseless violence in this city.
I guess University of Delaware is in play because they beat us.

Ash ran absolutely no offense. That's the point. You sound like an Ash apologist.
My observations on specific players are not always about them being better or better off at the school they transferred to. See my points in other threads about Clark and Moore. Clark and Moore could have had huge years here with Dunph (or Chambers, another hotly debated topic). They probably got a good chunk of NIL money and took that for a chance for a step up in conference/big lights, but they won't be stars on their new teams. Is that better off? Probably not, IMO. NC State may not make the tourney and Providence may eke out a win in the dance, but it's not like they traded up to a top 10 team that could win it all.
I watched Clark play 33 minutes of invisible ball against Kansas and Moore subs for Ed. Not exactly shining in the spotlight, which they could have had here this year. Which is why I made the point multiple times last year that Ash should have been replaced mid-year. We lost any shot at keeping them by delaying the obvious and letting them have a long period to test the portal market.

In many but not all cases. Ash's system (or lack of it) didn't really elevate Sharif's value. He was unhappy, wanted out and left mid year because the environment under Ash sucked. If it didn't, why were 7 other players in the portal just after the season ended? He settled for whatever was available given shitty circumstances and that was a conference level down. Looks like he could be a big fish in the smaller pond.
I think all can agree that Ash was a bad coach. I just don't get the constant talking about departed players. Some for better some for worse. I care about the players that are here. They're the ones that are committed. The others?

They just beat Syracuse... Kenney.....I mean Gross Bullock made some key plays late....though he missed 2 foul shots. Bryant looks like a very tough opponent with some really good players...Kenney seemed much more engaged and active than he was here.
Sherif Gross-Bullock (Sherif Kenney) hit the last second shot against Syracuse for the win 73-72. Sherif had 15point and 5rebound against a power 5 school. I wish Sherif should stay at Lasalle. #GoExplorer

Gets game winner versus Cuse. 15 points. 6-12. 42% from 3.
Open mouth insert foot to knee. Thank you for being a constant source of Grinch comments here. So freakin humorous to watch.
I was always a fan of the player Sherif, not the system as it limited his output and his minutes. Not thinking it is fair to call him disengaged because none of us were at the practices or heard the recruiting pitches. Sherif has definitely proven to be more talented than the minutes he got. Bryant is recently off an NCAA appearance prior to that win at Syracuse, and I'm just not ready to call them a step down. If we insist on following every ex-Explorer's career, it's usually to our own detriment, but I'm thrilled he got himself onto a squad that is utilizing his skills better.
On January 6, Sherif Gross-Bullock scored 41 points and 6 rebounds in a win against MD-Baltimore. Sherif avg. 19.1 pts and 5.1 rebounds this year for Bryant. In my opinion, it hard for any player playing for a high or mid major to score over 40 points in a game.
