Tough one to swallow. Always liked Kenney but had a feeling this was a matter of time given his role at this point.
Wish him all the best. He will be missed!

We weren’t going to win with him regardless.
Best of luck to Sherif. Hopefully he finds a spot to fit his needs.
The program is better off relying on less players IMO. He just never took the additional step. Whether that was Ash not developing him or Sherif not doing his part it was not going to happen here.

I saw that coming. It was only a matter of when. Could be addition by subtraction.
88 nails the analysis!

Is there an alumnus portal?

This is a disaster, one of our best players over the past few years. He is better off at a better school though. Sad time to be an alum.

I like Sherif and wish him well as he continues his education and basketball journey. Without Sherif we could go from being an 8 win team to being an 8 win team.

We've had more players transfer out than graduate over the previous few years and it's not even close... and this includes guys such as Beatty who have graduated and transferred out after graduation.

This is no surprise that Sherif Kenney is leaving the program. I love his offensive game, but his defense need to improve at the next school he attend. In my opinion, Sherif Kenney see the writing on the wall with the play of Nickelberry, Gill and Shepherd. Sherif Kenney game remind me of Vinny “microwave “ Johnson from the Detroit Pistons Bad Boy days. Sherif Kenney will not be the last player leaving the program. The next player might transfer out the program is Brickus or Brantley. Best wishes to Sherif Kenney.

Christian Ray is the final remaining player from Ashley Howards first recruiting class. Stone, Ayinde, and now Kenney have left the program. Not to mention all of the others who have transferred out.

Another example of Ash being unable to develop a player and define their roles. How much more of Ash's incompetence as a teacher and developer of his players so we need to see.
His guys! That was our mantra. Once Ash gets his guys we will start winning. His guys are all leaving .

We weren’t going to win with him regardless. I disagree with you in this. He has talent. Ash couldn't figure out how to use that talent. There are good solid players in this team. We lack a coach who can teach, develop, and make adjustments as needed in-game. It seems like each year Ash brings in new freshmen or transfers to get "flavor of the month" rather than sevelop his core leaders. I watched him do this with Saul and Shaggy when he first arrived, and now with the A10 6th Man of the Year. Who will be next? We should start making odds on each player.

Exactly. I am not worried about any kid transferring. As long as Ash is coaching the way he does we are not going to win. We almost need to find kids that can win despite the coaching. Ash needs to change his approach and the way his runs this program. It is not working

Yeah. When Ed left I saw it as a red flag and a possible concern about the culture of the program. I remember people kind of mocking me for that, but now, losing kids seems to be a pattern that is fairly consistent.
Coach's job...and that if his staff...is to develop these kids. Shape them..make them feel part of a system...work with them though downturns and attitude adjustments. They are 19 year old kids and have all the issues 19 year olds have. That is easy to forget, but i feel like when La Sallr admits a kid for anything...basketball, soccer, chemistry, accounting....there is an implied commitment to helping that kid grow and develop. I can't honestly say I've seen that in what Ash is doing with the kids he brings in...and as an alum it saddens me to see someone transfer out.

The red flag on Ed is a good point. It seems like the team that had no offense or system finally found a way to win on Ed’s rebounding prowess where he could keep us in a game full of bad misses with offensive rebounds and putbacks. Have not chatted this as a fact, but this is the way it feels.
Then you have an overly large roster of redundant players jockeying for PT and having no security within a scheme less system where players compete for PT without true support from the coaching leadership. Again this is the way it feels.
We weren’t going to win with Sherif playing no D for over 25 minutes and having the worst plus minus stats. And he wasn’t going to stay if Ash recognized that and played him for 12 minutes when he wasn’t exactly an instant offense player - he was more of a grind it out type
Hopefully with an evolved core of Jig, Josh, anwar, Jack and Moore and lead subs of Shepherd, Ray and Khalil, we can gel. That ultimately is up to Ash (or maybe eventually Pat).
If Ash can’t right the ship soon I think it’s time to give the keys to Pat. There seems to be some momentum under Pat even though it is totally awkward since Ash is in charge (officially but not in reality). If this doesn’t happen the program is even lower than dogs since no recruit wants to play for a lame duck coach (in reality or tenure or both) and the portal is our worst enemy in this scenario.
