Keep in mind with Ed...he was sharing duties with Jared, and before he left, only averaging about 21 minutes a game. And, if I'm not mistaken, Clifton was in the fold to play in 20/21, so there probably wasn't the opportunity for more minutes. And...I would venture to guess that there were people close to him (relatives, friends, agents?) whispering in his ear that he can move on and get more floor time, production and visibility at another school.
Regarding Sherif...he very possibly could be the 7th or 8th guy off the bench this year. Inconsistent shot, and a bit out of control at times. Shepard has stepped up, and it appears that Jack is now the 6th man coming off the bench. Brantley may be ahead of Sherif as well. It's tough to stick with a program when going from 6th man of the year to a 10 mpg guy.

Shepherd will have a great opportunity, one I am excited about as I have high hopes for him.
Thanks Sherif for your efforts as an Explorer.

I will just love to see our most athletic player with the greatest potential (IMO Shepard) get more playing time.

Keep in mind with Ed...he was sharing duties with Jared, and before he left, only averaging about 21 minutes a game. a lot of his minutes issues were due to getting in foul trouble a lot. He would often pick up 2 quick fouls in a half and be pulled. He was the MVP of a tournament for us and when not in foul trouble, was solid on the floor. Problem was keeping him on the floor. Ash could have used 3d and Moore together in the floor and stretched out defenses.

The next player might transfer out the program is Brickus or Brantley. This goes for everyone. Let's not talk about this like it is certified fact please. These are kids and they're going to make decisions. Let's not get in their heads. Thanks.

This goes for everyone. Let's not talk about this like it is certified fact please. These are kids and they're going to make decisions. Let's not get in their heads. Thanks. I think it's OK to speculate on this for a few reasons: 1) There is now a pattern of transfers, so it is a reasonable question to ask, "Who's next?". This is now the 3rd year in a row a player has left the program mid-season. Others will leave at the end of the season. Is it a certified fact? No. Is there a really really high probability of it based on past experience? Absolutely. 2) Ash's contract situation is unknown. Let's say he has a 5-year deal and isn't renewed this year and becomes a lame duck coach (we've all speculated on this). I think it is perfectly reasonable to wonder if someone will choose to transfer...particularly a freshman or sophomore...so they can somewhat control whom they are playing for rather than being in "wait-and-see" mode and being put on the shelf while a new coach gets "his guys" in play. 3) I'm pretty sure this site isn't getting into the heads of the players. They know what's going on and they have people helping them make decisions.

Kenney had offers from UConn, Penn State, Kansas State, Arizona State, and DePaul. This kid had talent coming out of high school. Why couldn't Ash figure out how to develop him better?

not sure what this all means, but i took a look at the +/- numbers so far this year. here they are, listed worst to best. didn't realize how bad kenney was. shocked that brickus has a minus. really need him, clark, and ray to step it up and for whoever picks up the extra 22 mpg that kenney was getting to play efficiently. if anwar can stay out of foul trouble, he should get 8-10 of those minutes. the coaching staff also needs to coach these kids up. hopefully the layoff will help.
kenney minus 7.56 izay minus 4.00 clark minus 3.60 ray minus 2.70 brantley minus 2.56 brickus minus 1.20
nickelberry plus 0.50 doucoure plus 1.30 moore plus 1.90 shepherd plus 2.75 mcfarlane plus 3.67 gill plus 7.40

Adding a graduate transfer du jour made a lot of sense - 4 guys for one position. Now the net frosh is leaving because a 5 year player with no notable difference in outcomes is taking his limited PT. This goes to my point about redundant additions who compete for limited PT on Ash's roster.

The grad transfer is a good addition and shows a spark on the floor. The problem is...I think Ash sold out the future because he is under the gun to get wins now with a contract renewal looming... And it didn't work. So now you're left with probably a wasted year, an unhappy underclassman looking to leave, and another undeveloped player who we would really need next year when we lose the grad transfer and Moore.

Matt McFarlane should be getting minutes over every other big on the roster. No one else is making any difference on the courtEven if Ash is in win now mode, they're not winning. Losing on the court and losing development time for the younger players. This team is such a mess from top to bottom.

There has to be a story there that none of the wired in guys here are getting. With the notices McFarlane had coming in, I first figured it was some kind of eligibility issue. Then he started getting trotted out in garbage time. There has to be something. No coach is THAT dumb, are they?
