If the college sports model continues as is but with rampant transfers, programs are going to end up with soccer style front offices to keep up with all the various potential HS and college recruits. Coaches will basically have to have information on everyone to immediately know if they have interest or not.

Depends on how good that stop-gap is, right? I'm not turning down a BJ Johnson talent just because you don't get 2 or 3 seasons out of him.

He'll end up with 70-80 offers...

Recruiting is sales... Maybe Ash can sell La Salle to these kids...
We are in a new era...

I’d have a bit more hope if there wasn’t such a disparity with our stipend vs the P5 & BE

I’d have a bit more hope if there wasn’t such a disparity with our stipend vs the P5 & BE I thought the stipend was the “cost of attendance” Is that not the case anymore? The issue with cost of attendance is really a private school vs public school thing...

Do you think La Salle has a realistic shot at any of the PSU departees? Penn State 6'-5" junior SG Kyle McCloskey ( Germantown Academy ) has added his name today to the NCAA Transfer portal. McCloskey had spent 3 months ( April thru June ) in the transfer portal last year before opting to return to the Nittany Lions team for the 2020 - 21 season.

Fats Russell is in the portal.
At this rate La Salle may be the favorite to win the A-10 with all the transfers affecting the conference (sarcasm font).

A10 Rookie of the year Tyler Kolek from George Mason entered the transfer portal tonight. I wonder if awards winners are thinking...I can jump to a higher level.

It seems myopic to applaud Daly transferring up to the A-10 but freaking out when top A-10 kids transfer up to majors.

If one thing is apparent, mid majors are going to have to develop talent to be good. Need to not only develop gems and under-recruited high school kids but also develop the high major kids that move down because they didn't have success at that level.
High majors will have to pluck from lower level programs successfully and decide if success at a lower level can be done at a high level and must develop them as well. In addition, they have to watch out for lateral transfers to other power conference for probably minor issues and spats that would not necessarily cause a player to transfer in the past.
Everyone has to do things to adjust now. I don't like the ease of transfers now but have to admit it will be facinating to see what this looks like in the next 5 years.

For sure. We're going to have to be looking both ways; all the same guys who transfer down from majors for usage plus guys in like the NEC who can come up and fill the rotation. We're historically good at the former, the latter much less aside from a guy like Cleon.

as far as the penn state guys go, i think we can forget about harrar. he told delgreco that he wants to play in the ncaa tournament and will be looking for a sure thing since this will be his last year. it's a shame because he would be a great fit for la salle and would make a good compliment to clifton moore. his brute strength and offensive rebounding skills would work nicely with moore's shot-blocking and ability to play away from the basket. i believe he also played aau with david beatty and jack clark.
lundy will be very hard to get as well as he will get plenty of power 5 offers. la salle (and temple) did make it onto his final ten when he was coming out of high school so maybe there's a shot if he's looking to play closer to home, but i'm sure the other seven teams on that list have offered him again along with many other high majors.
maybe brockington will want to finish out his career closer to home but i'm assuming he'll have plenty of interest too.
i did come across a big man transfer that possibly might consider la salle. 6'8", 250 lb kevin marfo from texas a&m. he led the ncaa in rebounding at quinnipiac a couple years ago and grad-transferred to a&m where he averaged 3 pts and 4 rbds in only 13 minutes per game there. he's from north jersey. played his freshman year at gw. he will probably be looking to drop down a level to somewhere where he can make an impact. i'm pretty sure dr g recruited him out of high school.

I wonder how happy a strictly interior big like him would be in Howard's offense. Obviously you need atleast one, but I'm not sure one with scoring ambition makes sense.
