Dayton is the enigma for me. Losing by 2 to us, by 1 to Fordham, by 2 to Rhode Island in double OT. Give them those games and they are sitting on a double bye instead of 7th place. Their path goes through Rhode Island and then VCU who beat them handily twice this year. Wondering if they can be a spoiler.

Once again "margin of loss" comes into play in the A-10.

High wind and cold today reminds me of similar weather for a first round game in AC years back.

High wind and cold today reminds me of similar weather for a first round game in AC years back. As much as I liked the A-10 being in AC, man there were some raw days and night walking from our hotel to Boardwalk Hall in 35 degree days with no sun in sight while the wind did it's best to blow me out to sea.

... just sayin ' Billy Lange on Ryan Daly : " We have the most valuable player in our league. He won't win it because he's only played three league games. And I say this with great humility because there are great players in our league. He helps the other players be better, and they help him do what he does ".Random observations of Ryan Daly's invaluable ubiquitous leadership late in the second half of yesterday's game against Richmond : -- second coach out on the floor ; -- rallying his teammates ; mutually enjoying their teamwork / high fives and chest bumps ; -- cheerfully ( cleverly ) schmoozing / working the referees at every stoppage of play ; -- jubilantly ' man-hugs ' the water boy / student manager during a timeout ; -- arm around teammates' shoulders during every timeout. -- bear hug by / from coach Lange after team in joint effort somehow manages to wrest victory from the jaws of defeat. The fact that they're now in double digits in wins after only two seasons tells me all I need to know about how wrong I was about Lange/Daly.

Daly has scored 100 points against us in 4 meetings. Does he go over or under 25 tomorrow?

Folks, he's a Hawk and I hope he goes 0-20 from the floor and we win by 20. Then Mr. Daly can have a happy and healthy pro career, wherever it is. Was the same energy expended rooting for Delonte West when he was at St. Joe (PA)?

Was the same energy expended rooting for Delonte West when he was at St. Joe (PA)? This works for me. then again, he could get 30 and I wouldn't care as long as we won. I am thinking he is going to get his. He is a legit scorer. But, let's remember how to play consistent hard nosed defense (it has been a while) and control the rest of their squad and win comfortably. Offensively, I so hope to see us instead of stumbling into the match up advantages we have on O over them exploit them by design. Also hoping to see if we will have our full squad.

I am not feeling optimistic about tomorrow, particularly because of how we have been spiraling downward the last few Games as the Hawks have been heading upward.

Well if we are as good as Billy Lange says we are it should be easy to buck this recent trend of ours ! Swell guy. Seriously though, optimism is really hard to come by for sure.

St. Joe's isn't UCLA from the 1970's. They have 6 wins total. Good guys win this time and Daly goes under 25. 79-65 Explorers. Don't see an extended run but will be nice not to have the season end before lunch on day 1 of the tourney!

Even Greyhound pulled out of Dayton.

I'm thinking the winner of this game beats UMass but then falls to an SLU team that needs the win.

And Duquesne defeats a Blake-less Richmond...and probably sends even their NIT-chances packing.

Even though La Salle was an early out again this year, I appreciated it happening a week earlier. I hope it's a permanent change.
I meant to say something nice about the tournament scheduling this year, but then I looked at the bracket and saw they're still playing the final on the 14th, 8 days after the semifinal, and this kind of bush league nonsense is why I hate the Atlantic 10.

This was covid related....I have zero interest in playing the tourney the week of the low and mid majors...I like the week of selection Sunday. You do not get better sitting around for 2 weeks. Rust is real.

Rust is real. So schedule it as a cohesive block ending on basically any day except Selection Sunday, which has a demonstrated and known detriment. If we're going to pretend these athletes are also students, we should at least keep up that charade by not adding bonus incompetence scheduling uncertainty on top of coronavirus uncertainty.
