Listen I don’t blame the kids for pulling any lever they can and if Portnoy helps them raise some money, good for him. I’m not going to cast any aspersions on anyone relating to him showing up and doing something Like this to help them raise money. Nothing wrong with that, despite what I think of him and his website. The school partnering with him would be a much different story for me, but regarding this specific event, I can’t really knock anyone.

Super surprised he's not wearing a mask. How reckless...does he think he's at the Raftery Golf Outing or something.

Raftery outing was worse; I have higher expectations for university leadership than racist website guys.

Was at my daughter's high school soccer game yesterday and had a sideline conversation with the father of one my daughter's teammates. He mentioned La Salle as one of the schools his daughter was considering as a college soccer possibility. But he said they were probably going to take the school of the list of considerations "because their athletics program seems too unstable....if they can cut a top-notch volleyball program, along with other sports, without warning, what's to stop them from doing it to soccer too?" he asked.
I didn't know what to say, as he made a good point. I did defend the school and said I thought I received an outstanding academic education, and that the professors' dedication to teaching is what I thought made the school special.
But the BOT and AD should hopefully recognize there is going to be fallout for some time, even with their other programs.

La Salle will never upgrade the basketball facility. I have heard we are for years and nothing has come to fruition. I have finally accepted that fate for my basketball program over the past year. I really thought it was close two years ago but there is no way I can reconcile in my mind it will ever happen at this point. I love La Salle and will always wish the best for the school and program but the facilities discussion is over. Would love to be wrong but I don't think I am. Ash will need to find a way to appeal to better players who are willing to play in the current facility. Not an easy task for anyone but fingers crossed he can find a way to get it done. La Salle will upgrade the basketball facilities... The emphasis on the last word Does that mean they will upgrade the Hideaway also, to make it plural?

As a patent of a kids who may one day play college sports, I'd honestly have the same reservations.

WSOC is one of the "priority" athletic programs in the master plan (last i heard about 5 years ago). Arguably the most successful over the last decade. As long as Paul Royal is happy and stays at La Salle they will be successful and obviously see the resources. A few years ago, N C State supposedly made a push to hire him. Paul stayed. The HC that N C State hired was fired. I see Paul as having a little... better make a lot... of Torpey in him. Torpey told me once (only time I met him) I like the blue collar student athletes I get at La Salle. They listen and work hard. I had the Superstars and they aren't like these young people. So I think the future is only bright for WSOC. BTW his FR last year (SOPH this year) were one of Paul's best recruiting classes and this incoming class is supposed to be even better. Are they off that silly suspension?

Pres just put a video on twitter about how la salle has the worst/ugliest campus he's ever seen. And all i can think of is, this is the best thing to happen to the university since the Sweet 16.
🙏 thank you st baptist de la salle

Good thing we have proud alums like bagni rushing to our defense with three backwards compliments in one tweet, as "campus won't win any awards" and it's "nowhere near awful" because "There's dozens (sic) of buildings... not bad for... 4,000 students."

Yes, I misunderstood the "best news" comment, have reread the posts and I guess I'll take solace in that. I still think we're further behind than we started.

Any one who has a pulse on how social media works or comprehends how barstool operates, gets that this kind of publicity is good for the school.
Its okay to laugh at yourself every once in a while. We don't have to always be so serious. Embrace what la salle is. I guarantee 70% of students at the other big 5 schools would have loved for Pres (with his 1million plus followers) come to their school and "bust balls" about their campus.

I miss my convos with Torpey... Dude was a different class.. Lot of reflection in the last 10 years (11 since I've been out) and while I'm not sure he was the best coach for everyone...he definitely got the most out of me...a kid who really hated long runs. He wouldn't survive in today's NCAA though.

I was on the fence when Barstool got involved because if it benefits La Salle students but when Bagni gets on board well then....

Did the baseball team break any ncaa rules for endorsing the pizza? I wonder if the coach will be fired first thing Monday.

It’s legal, but I know the NCAA is often incredibly prudish about such things. A lot of those kids may be looking to transfer elsewhere to play, I hope the NCAA doesn’t get stupid about something like that.

I’m sure by saying we have an awful campus he’s referring to the architecture of the new business school or the student dining options. I’m sure he’s not actually talking about the surrounding area of the campus, specifically the racial make-up of the people he saw. Because that wouldn’t be in keeping with the well documented racial sensitivity of Dave Portnoy.
