In any case...talking to current students there gives an interesting picture of things. The general consensus from current students: his choice to leave immediately, took teammates by surprise, felt nitpicked in practices by Ash, he quit on his teammates, don't understand why he left with a few games remaining. This seems to align with other things I've heard from people closer to it. Super believable

Is there enough discourse on thread to make it to 12? I say the thread has run its course. Vegas had the over under at 10, so no reason to extend it.

i'm thinking this post might generate some more responses. and it's not meant to take away the fine play of ed. i realize it's a very small sample size, but in the 3 games since ed left, the team has:
avgd 10.3 turnovers compared to 14.7 for the season avgd 15 assists compared to 13 for the season rebound margin was +5.4 compared to -0.5 for the season offensive rebound average was 11.7 compared to 10.6 for the season so far, the team has been noticeably more efficient since he left.
and then there is jared, who for much of the season looked lost and his confidence was obviously shot. he has been a completely different player. i for one am very happy for him. great teammate who hung in there waiting for his chance. jared has committed only 3 turnovers in 93 minutes over the 3 games. ed averaged over 2 per game in around 10 less minutes per game. jared has averaged 10 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1 block in the last 3 games ed averaged 10.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 0.7 steals and 0.5 blocks jared also played a large role in the gw win while ed sat with foul trouble.
don't get me wrong, i wish ed had stayed, but kudos to jared and the rest of the team for pulling together and scratching out a couple wins and hopefully some more. i thought they were going to lose out without ed. i'm so glad they proved me wrong.

That’s all fine and dandy but Ed is easier to spell because it’s only two letters. For Jared I have to remember like three more letters or something.

Providence or Arkansas

Providence would be a weird choice with the Mitchell Twins from Maryland transferring there and in some ways being similar to Ed in that they are really 5's. None of those 3 are what I call stretch 4's. So unless Ed Cooley is going back to traditional 4's and 5's as back to the basket players Providence would be an ill advised choice for Ed

If the NCAA allows another year of eligibility, does Gill return at C? Maybe Ed slides to a more “natural” PF?

I don’t get your question seton hall's starting center was senior romero gill. there's been some speculation that the ncaa might give another year of eligibility to winter sports (i don't see that happening). if that happened and the proposed rule to give transfers immediate eligibilty happens, ed could play pf for them next year alongside gill. i have no idea what other big men return for them but most likely, ed would not have that position handed to him. he needs to be careful with his choice because he could end up being a sub/role player if he goes too high. diggins has acc, b10, and sec offers.
