Just saw Corey Evans report Ed is transferring at the end of the semester.
Pretty shocking. Ash’s job got that much harder.

Does he play the rest of the season or sit?

One could argue that Ed was our most consistent, valuable, best (take your pick) player this season. There were times this year that I thought that Kimbrough would leave because Ash seemed to be favoring Stone as the second big. Recently Jared has moved back into that role. It is possible that both Ed and Jared can see their playing time reduced next year after spending the year practicing against Moore and Stone. I can't help thinking that this is related to or some fallout following Ed's healthy scratch from the starting lineup a few games ago in favor of Ray (the double ginger jump ball game). I believe that it is possible to enter the transfer portal to test the waters and then return to your school if the school will have you. I hope he stays.

This is very surprising. As stated, he was our best player this year. I thought a big may transfer, but not him. Best of luck to Ed wherever he lands.

Loved watching him play, and was excited for the next few years, much because of him. But, no way I’m wishing a guy luck who discloses intention to transfer WHILE THE SEASON IS STILL BEING PLAYED.

Hopefully he's transferring up. Why? He is not going to be here. Your do nothing wrong coach is making his job that much harder losing him.

The Portal and transfer rules will work against all teams from time to time (PSU lost almost a majority of their five star recruits to the portal) but will work against smaller schools like us more, as I said in the other thread. I liked Ed a lot and wish him well. I hope he has benefited from both our academic and our team experiences.
The reality of this situation is that Ash has to work the new recruit and transfer markets annually, not once every two or four years. For every Ed we and others lose, you have to strive to go to P5 schools to add a Moore, and you have to grab Blake Francis type players from lower programs who want to play in the A10.
Maybe Ash could mine a transfer from a guy like Cosby Roundtree, who is getting 7 mpg. He knows the system. Maybe Kenny J knows some UoL guys (or DMV guys in far flung places) getting little PT who'd like to actually play minutes and/or play near home.
I think assembling a team annually is the new norm. One down, next man up or next man wherever the Portal opp is.
It could be worse - we could be in the MAAC.

In fairness to Ed, he was recruited by another coach and the replacement has installed no semblance of a coherent offense in two seasons. Ed is obviously a worker and, while not a fully-realized player, his offensive rebounding is an elite skillset that will have value to many big time programs looking for guys who can create extra opportunities.

Might be the best offensive rebounder in the country. He will get higher looks. We now need front court help badly.

On a bright side, and I'm reaching here, Ed leaving allows us to get more athletic in the post.

Why? He is not going to be here. Your do nothing wrong coach is making his job that much harder losing him. I think its really bad for the program and potentially really good for Croswell and I'm grown up enough to appreciate both sides of that dichotomy. Feels healthier than internet screaming "FUCK YOU" at a kid half my age.

Angel Delgado didn’t play above the rim and was very good for Setin Hall. He will get looks above the A-10.

Feels healthier than internet screaming "FUCK YOU" at a kid half my age. If that works for you but if you like Ash his job is to find a way to keep your best players. Next year when he is struggling to guide this program without players we all can take solace that Ed is happy. I understand Ed’s thinking here as a fan I want my team to succeed.

That's fine Mik, I'm allowed to dislike the kid's game, in favor of a big that can defend bigger players and play a stretch 4 type game. The A10 has had players in Olean and North Broad, Dayton and Overbrook that are athletic bigs. In a pace and space 94 foot game that Ash wants to play, Ed's game of a throwback big doesn't fit.

Our best players are almost always transfers. In a world where La Salle is consistently landing major conference talent out of high school, this would be a near annual reality.

Wondering how much of his offensive rebounding prowess was due to our awful shooting.
