They shot 72% from the field. Toppin was a beast. 10 for 11 shooting including 3 for 4 from 3 with 12 boards.

SLU goes to Rhode Island and wins 72-62. A-10 very easily could be a 1 Bid League.

SLU looked TOUGH! URI went from 82% dance bid to 64% chance with that loss. Just think - we played both teams to a one possession outcome. Outside an A10 tourney champ bid, URI needs to beat UD at home to get in the dance discussion
Meanwhile Clemson and Rutgers are in the mix for a bid based on large arena home wins. Total BS. This is the most competitive A10 I have ever seen. We could go toe to toe with P5 conferences home and away based on 1-8 team rankings. Yet we will get 1 bid with a#1 seed and maybe a second with UR. Really unfair!!

Really unfair!! Dick Vitale was talking about this on the Dayton broadcast on Friday. How the Purdue's of the world with sub-500 conference records shouldn't get in just because they play in a P5 conference but good teams are being left out. He thought 3 should go from A10.

If we build a new 6,500 seat arena we too could host the opening play-in games every year. If you build it they will come. Court of dreams.

They have built a niche for themselves for a variety of reasons 1) Good sized arena that sells out for play in teams but isn't too big so that it is part empty 2) Capacity is 13,400 3) Sightlines are excellent for TV coverage 4) They are relatively centrally located so travel for winners who have short turnaround for next game are not too badly incovenienced They have a great little monopoly. I tip the hat. When we get to the next play-in, we are already comfortable with the arena. Bonus!!

1 in 2 we avoid Wednesday I’ve been hoping to avoid Wednesday, but I also like avoiding the 8/9 game, VCU, and Davidson. Way to beat Bonnies and mess everything up!

Bracketology has the A10 down to a 1-bid league after Rhode Island's loss to St. Louis over the weekend. Both Richmond (NET 48) and Rhode Island (NET 51) are on the outside looking in right now, although the Rams taking down Dayton on Wednesday night would get them in. If either one can make a deep run in the A10 tournament and get to the finals, maybe they get in, but 3 bids looks unlikely now. A shame that a team like Richmond could finish with 25+ wins and still be left out.
Richmond clinches an A10 tourney double-bye with a win over Davidson tonight.

Duquesne picked up their first ever win at VCU (in OT).
And Richmond rolled Davidson

If Dayton wins out, they have to be a 1 seed. I can't understand how bracket projections still have them a 2. They are just dismantling Rhode Island tonight.

Cripes Dayton is good. The A-10 could actually produce a National Champion. Their only kryptonite appears to be big physical front court teams. How many of those teams are in college basketball today? Not many.

They're going to be a #2 and they're going to get a crazy underseed major conference #7 (West Virginia / Arizona). Book it.

Wouldn't they rather be the #2 and play in Cleveland? Their fans travel so well so they will be represented no matter where they play, but I have to figure they will have basically 2 home games playing in Cleveland.

As we stand, the A10 is a two bid league--Dayton and Richmond. Richmond's win over Wisconsin could save them all depending how they do in the A-10 tournament.

How many of those teams are in college basketball today? Not many. They coud throw the Big from the bench into the lineup against a big team Transferred in from a P5 team. I think they go to Elite 8

Is this year’s Dayton team the best in A-10 history? It has to be them, St. Joe’s during Jameer’s last year and the Camby UMass team.

UMass went elite 8 and final four in back to back years in the 90s. SJU and Mass lost Elite 8 games to the same team OK State.

Dayton is a 22 point favorite over GW tomorrow. I guess Vegas expects them to finish strong.

With Baylor losing to unranked West Virginia today, if Dayton takes care of business tonight, they should be a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

If La Salle were in Dayton’s position, the school would be insane.
