We beat them last year. I wouldn't go so far as to say Davidson "stinks". They have some decent wins but struggle on the road, including a 4-OT loss at GW. They are definitely beatable, but so was UMass and Mason and we couldn't manage to scrape those out. With the exception of Wright State, we haven't really won any games we weren't supposed to win, and lost some we should have won.

Davidson just got out coach...It's a great job by the hawks coaching staff on finding a way not only to compete but win the game an excellent job...Also give Umass credit to on beating St. Louis tonight you've got to be kidding. st joe's (pa) won because davidson went ice cold and missed numerous wide open threes and layups in the second half while everything they jacked up went in. they were making 30 foot threes with hands in their faces which i would give them all day. i do give cameron brown and lorenzo edwards credit on that last play though. despite getting his shot blocked, edwards stayed with it, got the ball out to brown who stayed composed enough to pump fake the defender and step into the shot just beyond the arc. impressive play for a freshman.

We might catch Davidson in a trap game. They play us sandwiched between Rhode Island and Dayton. in order to have a trap game, you have to be playing for something. davidson may have played themselves out of a nit bid last night.

Davidson likely will be very hot from 3 at home. Their freshman now know the system and are making great cuts and taking high quality shots.
Combine these factors with the fact that we are prone to taking low quality shots and experiencing long scoring droughts, I am not optimistic about winning in NC.

Saying nice things about St. Joe's (of PA) on this board should get you thrown in prison.

GW with a surprising win in Pittsburgh over Duquesne 70-67 Duquesne may have been looking ahead to Dayton on Saturday after losing to them by 4 earlier this year. I said earlier this year I thought GW would be steadily improving and not be a gimmie for us like I originally thought.

I said earlier this year I thought GW would be steadily improving and not be a gimmie for us like I originally thought. GW solidifies them avoiding Wednesday in Brooklyn. Our only chance is to pass Mason and UMass. The Minutemen have 5 wins currently and still play Fordham, so presumably they'll have minimum 6 wins. Can we get to 6 wins with our schedule?

Let's start with the Umass, GWU, GMU, and Fordham's of the conference first. Davidson lacks depth and is pretty dependent on the three. They have 2 tremendously capable guards in JAG and Grady. Both have been somewhat down this year, but those two with Luka and the freshman Korean kid, they have talent there, just not deep and not ultra consistent. I think this might be the third year in a row they lost at SJU of PA. and they nearly blew it against SJU of PA in Davidson going 2-6 in the last minute from the line and giving Daly that super odd 3 pointer at the buzzer. I don't disagree with those teams. Davidson stinks this year. Something is not right with them. We can beat them. If you think they stink with 2 first team guys and an all rookie big, you’re insane. They have definitely underperformed this year, but they don’t stink. Nowhere close. They were picked top of the conference for a reason. A team that stinks doesn’t have talent. Davidson has talent. They just smoked bonnies by 25 at bonnies. On a Friday. A team that stink doesn’t do that. Schmidt is a coach that doesn’t get beat by teams that “stink”

Good teams don't do that regardless of where they where picked pre-season.

I don’t think we can really point fingers on who stinks at this point. Davidson Gave up a 20 point lead. We’ve let teams go on 20 point runs in probably 10 different games this year. So if davidson “stinks” I think we deserve to get relegated to the PIAA.

Davidson stinking and us stinking aren't mutually exclusive. They are better than us right now, although certainly beatable as St. Joes proved. The difference is that Davidson was picked to finish near the top of the conference and is in like 8th place.

Kentucky stinks because they lost to Evansville. Evansville stinks because they are 0-15 in their conference. Duke stinks because they lost by 22 to NC State. Everyone stinks.

That team that "stinks" just won in overtime at home against Rhode Island. Also...the Bonnies beat Richmond and probably took them out of at-large bid contention for now. Bonnies are tied with Richmond for 3rd place but now own the head-to-head tiebreaker.
The league is solidly a 2-bid league right now unless someone can steal a bid in Brooklyn. Maybe we get a 3rd in from an at-large, but I doubt it since Richmond's NET likely takes a hit losing today.

You questioning one of the most accomplished basketball coaches in college basketball is absolutely hysterical. You couldn’t win a region 11 5th grade CYO title, but you’re going to say a coach with 500+ wins is a bad coach. The board has hit an all time low.

So basically a 1 in 3 chance of avoiding Wednesday, in the simplest terms.

I would say just win the next 4 games and earn the "not bottom 4" spot. 8-10 conference record to finish up. That would include a W against UMASS who still has VCU, Richmond and URI on the sked. GW also has 3 tough games, so we hold the tiebreaker with them. We dug ourselves into this hole, so now we have to dig ourselves out of it. Just 1 more game against an upper tier team. Have rarely (if ever) seen a strong finish in the A10 by a LaSalle team. But gotta take care of business.

Given how we started I would be fine with 7 wins, but I could see us with 5 or 6 wins and likely in the bottom 4.
Davidson will be tough to pull a W out of.
Mass and Bonnies at home is no cake walk. Mass has great young talent with a lot of PT under their belt since we last played them. Bonnies have been playing really well of late, shoot the ball well and have more overall height than us.
The Hawks will be jacked to attempt W#2 at home. We need to game plan and execute for these teams like we did for GW, which was a nice road win.

Davidson has won something like 34 of last 38 home games, it’d be pretty surprising if we got them there. Umass at home is very plausible. @sju of pa is plausible. Bonnies at home will be very tough and I don’t see it happening. They’re too good and Schmidt rarely gets beat by teams with inferior talent.

It all depends how we start off against Davidson. If we find ourselves in the all too familiar 20 point hole at the 10 minute mark, then all is lost. Cannot afford a 5 minute scoring drought and allowing easy baskets. I'm hoping the confidence of winning an A10 road game carriers over into Tuesday night. The team played smart against GW, and held onto the ball for the most part, and didn't panic when GW made their 2nd half run. All good signs. Tough task, but a W against the Cats will give this team a much needed boost of confidence.

Bonnies have been playing really well of late, shoot the ball well and have more overall height than us. The Bonnies have "he who shall not be named". Plus they are playing for a double-bye in the A10 tourney right now, so they will be hungry for the W. They have averaged the fewest turnovers in conference play, and are second best in assist/turnover ratio, so they protect the ball well and are disciplined about passing and getting the right looks. We haven't played disciplined enough to date to match that style.
