You’re also saying ‘I won’t complain’ while complaining. We're putting options out here, Joe...probably in a more thoughtful and comprehensive way than the athletic department is. Of course, we have no way to assess that due to the continued Cone of Silence around anything related to this. You call it complaining...I call it reality. The reality is, driving to the Palestra from Chester County on a weeknight sucks, and my public transportation option of catching a 9:55 PM train from 30th Street, getting me to Exton Station at 10:51 and home around 11:15PM on a work night also sucks. Voice of the customer is important in this. Would it be THAT difficult to send a survey out to season ticket holders on options and ideas for where to play while renovations are happening, or how different options on where they play would affect one's attendance? The season ticket holders represent the most consistent source of revenue for the program, they should be surveyed on any changes like this, and the data analyzed. I received a call last week from the new ticket manager saying he would be calling me in a couple of weeks about renewing my season tickets. I would hope they wouldn't try to sell me season tickets and THEN change venue. But....this is La Salle.

Given the lead times typically involved in making, scheduling and announcing such rental arrangements, vis-a-vis both the A-10 Conference teams and our scheduled OOC opponents, IMO one would have expected the University's Administration and Athletics Department to have made some form of formal announcement on these subjects by now. The silence thus far has been deafening. I have to say that I was surprised at the dearth of reaction to the disturbing implications of my post of January 23 above. the 2022-23 season isn't even over yet. other than the home a10 and big 5 games, i'd be surprised if contracts for the majority of the 2023-24 ooc opponents have even been agreed to or signed yet except for maybe howard and at drexel. i'm assuming the rest of this season's ooc games were buy games. the a10 doesn't finalize the conference schedule until late summer and i'm sure will be flexible with dates for la salle with a nice arena will benefit the conference. i would be shocked if they haven't been talking to multiple local schools about renting their facilities should the gola renovation happen. the last thing i'm worried about is la salle being able to find places to play and putting together a schedule. my only worry is that the renovation doesn't happen. don't even want to entertain that thought.

I'll start by saying if this ends up being true and the school didn't control that message that will be disappointing to me. That said, if the school decides that the Palestra is the best option while they renovate the gym...you either suck it up or you don't go. Don't need to complain about parking and distance and how hard it will be for you. They're not trying to spite you...they're going to do what is the best for the school. You don't know all of the schedules of all these other places. It's not just basketball either...there are volleyball teams and the women's teams and a ton of other stuff going on. It's why they shouldn't schedule home OOC for a year...that will limit your driving time for sure. TBH, we should all shut up about "options" because we have no idea and we're just going to be disappointed without knowing why.

Dude...never said they were trying to spite me. That's a leap right there. I pointed out that Palestra is less convenient for some people. Someone responded that us people in the burbs can take public transit...but that's not a great option for all. I enjoy games at the Palestra and would happily go there for games when it is convenient. I'm completely on board with the school doing what they need to do...but can you honestly say that the athletic administration has a history of doing that over the past 10+ years? Do you have that much blind faith in this bunch? That we are at the 2-minute warning of the clock running out on this donation tells me no.

I LOVE diehards's idea to use Textile/Philly U/Jefferson - hadn't thought of that. Does that gym come with Herb Magee? ;-)

Thinking a bit outside the box here….why go to Penn for games when Temple has a nice gym, and they are closer. Technically, what is the difference between asking Penn to borrow their court and asking Temple? Also, I believe we actually have someone on our coaching staff who used to be at Temple, but his name escapes me. Maybe he could arrange something. ;-) I'd rather go to the Palestra than North Broad...but I live in South Jersey so there's that. Dunph has just as many connections to Penn as he does Temple.

It is also OK for people to say...games at the Palestra don't work for me, and I'll take a season off from my season tickets and make some weekend games at the Palestra. I still anyone with critiques about a plan that hasn't been announced beyond a post on this website...just take a breath. Whatever they decide is their decision. I disagree with you that they should solicit opinions from season ticket holders. Just make a decision and if people show up, great.

You realize we have 15 pages on here about something that hasn't been announced, right? And the thinking that you shouldn't solicit opinions from season ticket holders / customers is possible a reason attendance is so low and fans are frustrated with the game-day experience over the years.

I'm sure they'll figure out a plan. Definitely helps that Dunphy has connections and relationship across the area. diehardexplorer post probably ends up being somewhat accurate Speaking of connections, l'est we forget, James P. Gallagher, PhD, President Emeritus of Phila. Textile / Philadelphia University, after whom the Thomas Jefferson University Gallagher Athletics Center is named, served as Interim President of La Salle University from May of 2014 when Bro. Michael McGinnis, FSC, PhD stepped down until Colleen Hanycz, PhD commenced her Presidency in July of 2015.

FYI, Kale talked to our prez during halftime. goexplorers.com/watch/?Archive=60&type=LiveCheck it out at the 1:27 mark and talks about the arena project. He seems to get it and this is probably the 4 or 5th time he's on the record saying it's going to happen by the fall.

He was very candid about it and I definitely appreciate his response. He 100% gets how important it is and it's getting done. They wouldn't be wasting their time paying architects and engineers and it's probably more about scope and raising money as much as they can between now and the fall than anything else.

Day of giving funds will not go to arena as I understand it.

I'm assuming that to do the renovations, permits will need to be filed with the city. Does anyone with experience in this know what the turnaround time is for these and is there a site where these can be viewed? Since we aren't hearing anything definitive, I was wondering if maybe we can glean something from public records.

I’ve been looking periodically. The golf outing is later this week so I’d bet whoever attends including the Gola boys, Tom Gola 2.0 or others on this board will post something. An official announcement can’t be too far away.

August 10th. Did I see Dr. Allen or someone officially say the arena renovation announcement would be coming this summer? Still nothing. Want to keep this thread alive as the waiting continues.
