The Price is Right! Honestly, I am most excited about his potential.
That starting line up sounds fierce. I think Lewis could be a starter though for next year just seeing how we have done with our transfers over the years. Each case however is different but we shall see. First priority is this year. Great to hear G excitement for both Jerrell and Stukes.
Side note, Maryland starting PG Seth Allen is out for 8 to 10 weeks with a foot injury according to Rothstein. Good news for the explorers if they take on Maryland in the tournament. They will have to rely on a freshmen.
Lewis met with his doctor and supposedly gets his cast off next Tuesday. Potentially will be ready for the opener. More good news!

That's disappointing. I would've preferred they beat MD while they're at full strength lol

I get that MD is no pushover minus Allen, but we might not even see them if we make the finals. Much less a given they'll be there.

I think in the most likely scenario they will be there seeing that Northern Iowa who is a decent team will be their biggest challenge. I am more concerned with us not being there. Providence will handle Vandy and will be a big test for La Salle. Maryland OOC is tough, their RPI could take a slight hit but the most important thing regarding all ACC teams is winning games in conference play. Keep in mind, beating Maryland without their best point guard still won't be easy. I know you all remember we beat Butler without Rodnei Clarke so Maryland without their point guard could really help especially if they got hot in conference play.

Been reading up on some of the other opponents. Morgan State (our St Thomas opener) has a 7'2" 5th-year senior that looks like he can play a little (9 ppg, 5 rpg, 2 bpg last season) and a 28-year-old wing that spent 4 years in prison for armed robbery. Board favorite Fran McCaffery originally signed him at Iowa after he got his GED and went to JUCO. They'll be a top MEAC team and will have played Ohio State and Towson (who will be VERY good this season) by the time they play us.

This will not be an easy game. Somehow it just doesn't seem fair that a guy like Vernon Goodridge gets denied a year of eligibility but Hubbard is still allowed to play college basketball at age 28.

I'm sure that Morgan State game will be a tough matchup, but if we are truly a better team, that's a game we should win by 10+ by closing out the last 5 minutes of the game at the line and getting stops on defense.
Should be able to take that 7-2 guy right off the floor by going small and forcing him to step away from the basket or give us wide open looks from 3.

There will always be a few immature kids. And Aaric Murray. But G has really done a good job recruiting very nice people. I was on campus when Vernon was around. There were these Bigfoot-esque tales about how nice he was. I think he also stuck around to get his master's degree before trying his hand at the pros. (Where is he, anyways?)

If I'm reading this correctly, I think he's playing in Iran... basketball.asia-basket.com/player/Iran/Mahram_Tehran/Vernon_Goodridge/91247maybe it's a cover ID for a CIA gig or something. He played last season in Turkey and Ukraine as well as Argentina and the D-League in the past.

Those tales of Vern weren't fabrications, was a real humble and standup guy. Kids would tell "Vern" if they saw him on campus, and he'd always joke back. Credit to G, he's brought some good people through.
And Iran? What? That's wild.

Chris Herren played there. He talks about it in his book. He loved the people.

Good for him, but man, I feel like the places that are the least shall we say "stable" would be last places I'd want to play, even if its considered a better league than somewhere else. Seems like things could get ugly fast in certain corners of the world, and you could find yourself in a tough situation.

I think the team falling just outside the rankings to start the season bodes well for the Explorers. Leaves room to grow and not have too much pressure too early. That being said, I think they may struggle a bit to replace Galloway early in the season but think by midseason Duren and Garland will be in a groove and make up for the loss with the help of others. I'm feeling a big year from Jerrell Wright as well. I'm thinking he comes close to averaging a double-double for the year if he can stay healthy. Is it November 9th yet? www.broadstbeat.com/7/post/2013/10/city-6-preview-la-salle-explorers.html

Great to have college basketball back in our daily lives. Enjoy this run everyone because you never know when the well will dry up. We are loaded with talent this year and I too question whether the x-factor role left by Galloway can be filled. I look to Garland to become that prolific and emotional player to put us over the top when needed much like Galloway did. Hopefully, I'll meet some of you at some games. I'm bringing my four year old to the VCU game. I'll also keeping track of bracketology all season. Hopefully we'll be in the conversation by late March. www.explorertownbracketologist.com

Good stuff Vasalos. I have a 2 year old and dedicated myself to making her a hockey fan, in part because its on TV more here and in part because being a Rangers fan seemed safer than being a La Salle basketball fan. Now, not so sure.

Hahah. My son is a huge Giants fan. Went to his first game this year against the Eagles. Had a blast. He already has the La Salle gear from last year but this year he'll go to his first La Salle game. Should be great!

Going to stay the course so long as they don't adopt the Flyers' "if you can't beat 'em ... let them literally beat you to the point of hospitalization" approach.
