Kjmac although I think Sir Issac is overrated the young man is very much a Div 1 player. I guess after watching players like Austin and name escapes me at the moment (6-4 guard going to St. John's) Newton to me simply is not in their league. Yes I realize they are different type players but those two players are outstanding. Getting back to Newton it appears he just wanted to get away from home bacause he couldn't go any further south without leaving the country.

Eric Stafford has committed to Lafayette.
Also, Eddie Keith does not have La Salle in his final 6.

Playing time will be at a premium for someone coming in this year. I would look for someone who will redshirt.

I agree with most people that G would like a redshirt guard, a transfer. And frontcourt player in which skill level will determine if he redshirts or plays as a freshman.

Jevon Carter to WVU. Shuler is the last quality gd. on the list. I would have loved to have gotten either one, but if pushed, Shuler would be my choice. Are we still after him? From the little I can gather, he has also picked up an offer from SLU.

Not sure if this kid had been talked about before or not - Josh Verlin ? jmverlin 5m Eric Anderson (2014/Haverford School/Jersey Shore Warriors) has committed to Yale. La Salle was never involved with him so he hasn't been mentioned here. Nice player though. He played on the Jersey Shore Warriors with Amar Stukes so I was able to see him play a handful of times during the summer of 2012. I thought he was the third best player on that team behind Steve Vasturia and Amar. Another new 2015 La Salle recruit is 6'5" wing guard Josh Stamps. No offer yet. Also getting looks from Bradley, Loyola I'll., and some other Midwestern schools.

Just a slightly late update (about a month ago) on priority recruit 2014 Johnnie Shuler:Johnnie Shuler (2014/Theodore Roosevelt/DC Warriors) Though he didn’t have his best game on Friday night, it was clear that Shuler is a very talented point guard. He’s only about 6-feet tall on a good day, but he’s got a great handle and confidence in his shot, getting to the line very well especially in transition. “My biggest strength is I can say my teammates get involved in the offense, but I was just off tonight, that’s it,” he said. “As a basketball player, I’m an overall point guard. I get my teammates involved in the offense, and I can score the ball, pass and play defense.” Shuler scored 13 points in that win over People’s Basketball, many of which came both in the second half and from the charity stripe. When he gets out in space, he’s extremely crafty with the ball, though his north-to-south game struggled in the half-court offense a little bit. He’s got offers from La Salle, Quinnipiac, Fairfield, St. Louis and more, with interest from UNLV, Seton Hall, Wichita State, Radford and Iona. He clearly likes the Explorers, saying that La Salle is the only definite official visit he plans to take, with no timetable on his commitment.-Per Josh Verlin cityofbasketballlove.com/2013/07/summer-jam-fest-day-1-notebook/

Sounds like a Giannini style guard, for sure. Keeping to recipe of Tyreek-esque players is easier said than done, but credit to G for finding his guys and recruiting efficiently.

6'8 Power Forward Obi Enechionyia of Team Takeover to Temple. Between him and Jaylen Bond, 2014 could be the year of the Owl.

I'd love to land Johnnie Shuler for the reasons mentioned. Hope G can convince him there will be plenty of playing time and that he won't have to share the PG position with Amar. They could play together with the taller SGs, spell each other, and grow together.

They could play together with the taller SGs, spell each other, and grow together. The problem is, there is little to no playing time available in 2014-15. The guard rotation is already set with DJ, Khalid, Cleon, Jordan, and Amar. The question is, would Johnnie be willing to redshirt like Amar is this year? Playing time is there for him in 2015-16 after DJ graduates.

Funny how close we were to no DJ. Would have made recruiting interesting, but glad he's here.

Kjmac I have to believe players like Cleon, DJ and Jordan will see a reasonable amount of time at the four when we go small. We need to get Johnnie S. because he would be our only true #1 with Amar.

Convincing a kid like Johnnie Shuler to redshirt when he can get decent offers and playing time elsewhere at a mid-major or higher level is very difficult.
Personally I am not expecting much from this recruiting period simply because we don't have much playing time available. Kids won't be rushing to G when time isn't available. I think our best hope is an under/recruited/under the radar/ player(s) that G sees upside in. Or another transfer, especially in the frontcourt.

Maybe a big man because PT can be there for them in short time. What I noticed and what was intriguing about that comment from Johnnie (late July) is that Jordan Price already committed to La Salle 3 weeks prior (early July) to that quote. There must be something going on here because if I was that concerned about playing time, I wouldn't make those strong comments. I mean we are assuming that Johnnie knew of Jordan Price's commitment 2-3 weeks after it happened. I am going to guess and say Giannini did talk to him in that period. Very intriguing situation involving a highly talented, yet under the radar, recruit...

He can also play the wing, but he'll do a fine job covering the point when Amar is taking a breather. And this whole point guard/wing guard thing is overrated in this system. Every one of the guards in this year's and next year's rotation have the ability to play on or off the ball.

There's been absolutely nothing about him on any of the recruiting sites since the article that was posted. As far as I can tell, he hasn't taken any official visits yet. Would love to hear that something is in the works with him and La Salle. I have a feeling we won't see any November signings but would love to be surprised. I'm thinking two commitments in the spring with one being a transfer and the other being a HS/prep school kid who blows up during his senior or prep school year. The reality of the situation is the core of the 2014 recruiting class (Roberts, Price, Stukes, and Washington) is already enrolled and taking classes at La Salle.
