Looks like we'll have an answer on 2014 big man Rashaan Holloway in the next 4-5 weeks. www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2013_0725/live-in-ac-day-i-report/Rashan Holloway mentioned scholarship offers from Temple, La Salle, Drexel, Fairfield, Delaware, Monmouth, and Richmond, noting that he has 13 total. The class of 2014 recruit said Oregon State and Seton Hall are also showing interest. Holloway said Temple and La Salle are his two favorites right now and named Temple as the school coming at him the hardest. He has visited Temple, La Salle, Drexel, and Fairfield, with no additional trips planned right now. Holloway, who said location “doesn’t really matter” to him, would like to commit in August and explained why. “Just so I can go into the school year knowing and I [would] wait until all this is over, the Live Period.”

Perhaps G is targeting someone else for his top frontcourt recruit? I saw Alex Schwatz predicted Temple would be his choice in his summer recruiting predictions. Not that it means much .

Come are you kidding Dunphy working harder than G. Dunphy is what 65 years of age and probably will retire in two or three seasons. I would bet by end of 2016 season both Martelli and Dunphy will call it quits with Martelli possibly shown the door even sooner if his team doesn't show improvement next year.

Mik it was a generalization not specific to Holloway. Like you said maybe G is not as interested as negative hair lip or maybe he is and kid is set on the Owls and it doesn't matter how hard G or anyone else recruits him. From what I have read Holloway looks to be a future Hoot. Lets be honest is he better than Davis or Washington which is a question that probably nobody has an answer to at this point.

I thought you meant the Holloway recruitment specifically.

Different people in different professions work differently and the terms need to be defined. What does"coming at him harder" mean. Is it reality or just the perception of the student. Dunph puts forth great effort as does G. They probably do it a little differently. My reaction is SO?

Dunph puts forth great effort as does G. They probably do it a little differently. My reaction is SO? It matters Screamer. In fact it matters a lot. The recruit's perception of the situation is very, very important. If the recruit feels a coach want them more than another in most situations that is an advantage. All these coaches give the recruit the impression they are wanted but as we know there is a hierarchy of importance to coaches in thier recruits. My comments were not really about which coach works harder. For my money no one in the country works as hard as G in recruiting. But if Holloway thinks that Temple is coming hardest at him and I know G recruits harder than anyone I just think there may be a reason that Holloway thinks Temple is coming harder and that may be because G may have someone higher than Holloway in his pecking order. I don't know for sure but am just offering that theory.

Kids probably say these things to justify ( which they don't have to but our being considerate of other coaches who recruited them )their final decision so it gives the appearance that he was wanted most by the school they pick which to me makes it a clear indication of their final destination. Holloway will not be coming here from what I read but if second place makes you feel good so be it. G probably has moved on and as far as Holloway you wish him the best and hope that Dunphy stays the next five years with the Owls.

A couple new 2015 recruits to add to the list: Alex Kline ?@therecruitscoop 1h La Salle offered 2015 Team Final (PA) guard Donte DiVincenzo Donte is a 6'3" guard from Salesianum HS in Delaware which will make GloryDays happy. Apparently La Salle is the first to offer. Also got calls earlier today from Villanova, Georgia Tech, Marist, and Notre Dame. cityofbasketballlove.com/recruiting-profiles/donte-divincenco-g-2015/Coast 2 Coast Hoops ?@coast2coasthoop 2h '15 GA Stars C Noah Dickerson was contacted by Georgia, Georgetown, La Salle, Mississippi, Clemson, Bama, Cincinnati, Memphis & Georgia Tech Noah is a 6'8", 255 lb PF/C from Lovett HS in Atlanta. Already has a number of BCS offers. Reminds me a little of Jermaine Davis. --------- I am thrilled for Salesianum and Donte DiVincenzo. Although Salesianum is an athletic powerhouse their basketball program has produced virtually no D 1 basketball players. The last one was Harry Booth's son - Kevin - who went to the Mount in '87 and was a four year starter. One every 25 years. Painful.

No offers yet but two more new names:
2014 big man 6'9" Mason Stuteville from Orangevale, California. Won't decide until the spring. Also looking at Arizona State, Cal, Washington, Belmont, and others.
2015 guard 6'6" Isaiah Still from The Patrick School in Elizabeth, NJ. Also getting interest from Minnesota, Iona, Harvard, Siena and others.

Every kid getting offers from any schools + Harvard, with the means to afford Harvard, should pick Harvard.

Forget about "means to afford Harvard". If you're a talented athlete and can't afford an Ivy League school they'll get you scholarships and/or other assistance. They have de facto scholarship assistance, just don't call it that.

Well, Harvard in particular doesn't require family contributions to education costs if the family makes less than $65,000 a year. I'm sure they cobble together any remaining costs through grants for players in that income range, so not having athletic scholarships doesn't necessarily limit them to recruiting kids who are both good at basketball and from high income families.

Not that I am doubting Giannini especially when discussing recruiting... But our team is already set for next next year and high level freshman probably don't want to sit out.. I am hoping prospective players see that redshirt years have value and this program is on the up swing..

Me thinks Newton is overrated and hope he finds paradise in Miami. Honestly I don't think many care. lwc, I've never seen Newton play, but I know from someone that spoke directly to G that he would have loved to have gotten Newton. I think he saw that getting him was going to be next to impossible and went the transfer route with Roberts and Price instead. Maybe we get him on the rebound in a year or two. Miami is absolutely loaded in the backcourt for the next few years. They have two good transfers sitting out this year in Sheldon McClelland (Texas) and Angel Rodriguez (Kansas State) who will probably request a waiver for immediate eligibility. They also have four incoming freshmen guards, including two highly rated kids (Deandre Burnett from Miami and Davon Reed from Princeton) that G tried to get. Then in the 2014 class you add Newton and James Palmer from D.C., with the possibility of adding another Top 50 guard in Isaiah Whitehead from Brooklyn who was considering going to college with Newton as a package deal.
