James Love from American Heritage High School in Florida is visiting Thursday. I am on my phone so I can't link the story.

Looks like we have some competition for Love. Not sure if the interest is for the fall or trying to convince him to wait till Spring.

According to the link, his bench max is 135 but he's a 205 lb center??? I'm pretty sure Hank Davis max benches on 200. I know that it probably doesn't matter that much, but strength is a huge deal for big men.

His bench max is so far down the list of concerns.

He definitely needs to fill out and get stronger but like 88 said, his bench is far down the list of priorities. His base is more important than his bench...

Kevin Durant couldn't bench his weight coming out of college and he turned out to be an okay player.

My point is that if the coaching staff is really trying to develop him to pull down rebounds or post up, you need to have some significant body strength. The fact that he can't bench his weight means that it is going to take a lot for him to gain significant d-1 strength as a big man. I know he was older at the time and he's built differently, but Jerrell Wright apparently could bench 275 pounds in sets of 20 or something... That is who this recruit is going to be going against in games.

Comparing a tall thin recruit negatively to Wright is about as dumb as it would be for me to compare him positively to Camby.

I dont think Tony could bench a piece of angel hair spaghetti when he got to La Salle. Jermaine Davis could probably have benched a 2015 Dodge Ram Truck. Bench isnt everything, and it can change, a lot. Also, is that Sean Neal in the picture on his instagram? Must have liked him to want him in the picture he posted. Not just him and his mom. Good sign. Sean is also a great guy.

La Salle worked out Jalen Melvin yesterday from Paul VI in Virginia. He is a 6"10 post who has some other mid-majors involved.

That is who this recruit is going to be going against in games. I hear what you're saying but pulling rebounds and posting up begins with hustle and positioning. If he's not in position then negates any strength because use of his strength to push into position would likely result in a foul. Posting up is more reliant on leg strength and not bench. But you're right that if you're weak that'll just make it that much harder. We can agree to disagree on the importance of benching strength. Like you said Jerrell could bench 275 in sets of 20 but did he ever average double figure rebounds? What about Steve Z? Someone pointed out KD couldn't bench much and that never stopped him from putting up big rebounding numbers.

We need to add an updated bench weight column in the scholarship spreadsheet. I don't know how to judge the talent on the current team and that is all I have to go on.

So when do we get him via transfer?
I really hope that's G's pitch. "Look, you might as well just come here to start with because you're not going to play and they'll recruit over you and you'll just come here anyways. At least now you won't have to sit out a year."

One has to wonder if having 4 guys on the roster who came from Power conferences gives him an opening like that. It's not like he doesn't have a track record at this point. in some ways it's kind of like 5 kids on the roster if you include the kid who de-committed to Utah St.
In all honesty, it feels like G's recruiting season is more centered around transfer season now more than getting kids right from HS

We are in a great position right now with recruiting. G doesn't need to reach for players right now. Whether it is a transfer or high school recruit he can wait for the guy he wants.

It is just a K State offer not a Wisconsin offer. The wisconsin offer was just a retweet for someone else.
G's recruiting is fine.
