I watched the entire game. I didn't want to comment today during the game because I figured I'd be jumping off the ledge at some point.
The team played really well today. Their defense was tough and everyone contributed. It's always sweet to be St. Schmoe's and it's even sweeter that it happened on their Senior Day.
It's not the season any of us imagined, but at least they finished the regular season at .500.

Kind of a mild surprise today. It looked like St. Joe's gave up playing disciplined basketball, which plays right into La Salle's hands.
I guess it's St. Bonaventure on Thursday for us.

This was one of the few games where we looked really loose out there. It was nice to see them run and get some fast break points for once this season.

I love being wrong when we win. Interesting stat to me was that St.Joe's only scored 17 points from returning players next season with 46 coming from graduating seniors. Congratsa to T.Garlanr for playing a controlled game and not shooting beyond his range and to T.Duren and J.Wright also for very good games. I know season wasn't what many expected but it will never diminish what our four graduating seniors gave us. GOOD LUCK in A10 Tournament and future tourney.

Today reminded me how much we're going to miss Duren. Two points off his career high, about as cool as anyone could be at the line, shooting almost perfect from the charity stripe, and leading the team even when his shot isn't falling for half the game. Thank god we get Jerrell and Steve next year, but I'm gonna miss Tyreek. No insult to the other seniors, but Tyreek's at 93 double-digit scoring games - that's next level stuff.

I think they're still in as of right now. Top 50 RPI, four top 50 wins. But they have a big game coming up, I think against Dayton in the 4-5 game on Friday (Is that right?). Might be do or die.

Give the boys a lot of credit today. Showed some guts and beat a big rival. I can't stand St. Joe's, so this was a nice way to end the regular season.

But, of course, we are not their archrival right ?
1. Villanova 2. Temple 3. La Salle

Funny but if S.J. loses to Dayton they would be very similar to us last season except that we had bigger wins aginst higher rated opponents and I believe a slightly higher RPI and had to play a playin game. Based on that you would think if Dayton should pull off the mild upset St.Joe's would not make the tourney. I may be wrong but I am to lazy to check.

My guess is if they lose to Dayton (assuming it is Dayton) on Friday, then things will be VERY interesting in Hawk land for 48 hours.

Biggest stats of the game, IMO:
Steals - LSU 11, SJU 0 Turnovers - LSU 5, SJU 14 FTs - LSU 25/31, SJU 12/22
We were outshot and outrebounded, but TOs and FTs were the difference.
Obviously the A-10 refs are messing with Martelli with all the fouls this past week... clearly that's why they are choking to end the season.
Mind you, a ton of those FTs for us came in the waning minutes when they were forced to foul (thank God they remembered how to commit fouls!!!!!).
Put up or shut up time, Martelli.

Absolutely give credit to the boys. Wright did his Moses Malone thing and then Duren took over down the stretch. Mills with a real nice stat line. Garland with a new under control game.
Odd stat of the game. La Salle had 11 steals and sju (pa) had zero.
Nice win over the joey's.

Regardless of them making the tourney, I hope they lose to Dayton just to see them all shitting bricks leading up to selection sunday.
Some people just want to watch the world burn. I'm more interested in just seeing Hawk Hill go up in flames.

He needs to shoot enough to keep the D honest, but not enough where he looks like AI in his late NBA years.

If they lose to Dayton I think the Hawk is certainly dead but you never know. I believe after today's loss they are somewhere between 50-55 RPI and if they lose to Dayton they are toast. We ended up around 41 or 42 last year and barely got in so I don't know how they would have any chance. No way I see six A10 teams getting in so my five would be St.L, G.W., V.C.U., Mass. and the winner between Joe's and Dayton assuming Dayton or Joe's makes the A10 final otherwise only four teams get in.

Depends on the source. Most I'm seeing have them in the low 40s, they were high 30s before the game today. A-10 teams, regardless of record or resume rarely if ever get any consideration with an RPI north of 50, so if it were to fall that far, they're definitely out (somehow, Providence will get a look 53, even though the A-10 is a better league all around than the new Big East). But if they are at 41, which I'm seeing now, a loss to Dayton wouldn't put them over 50. The question is, if bids start getting stolen somewhere, how big is their cushion against that?

To add insult to injury for the roadkill, Kale mentioned that Duren's father is a st. joe (pa) grad.

"Congratulations to La Salle. Ingenious plan really. They ran a box-and-one on Langston Galloway. They did some things with Ron (Roberts) and Halil (Kanacevic) early in the game. I just apologized to the team because I didn’t have them ready. I didn’t see it coming," said SJU coach Phil Martelli.

But everyone's told me that Giannini is the worst in-game coach of all-time, guys.

When this was relayed to Giannini he reportedly replied "what's a box and one?"
Still the worst coach ever!!!

38 the highest RPI I found going into today's game for St. Joe's was 37 and the lowest was 51 so after today's loss Joe's would be somewhere between 43 and 53 depending on which RPI rating is used. Obviously if they lost in the second game of A10 they would fall below 45 in everyone's RPI rating and that is just not good enough to make tournament. Odd thing is St. Joe's got thumped by good teams they played in fact I believe they are 2-4 against top twenty-five teams compared to our 3-1 last season. After tournament we finished 4-2 against top twenty-five which was very good.

I think the problem they have is that they played almost all of their top 50 opponents at home, and didn't beat any of them away or at neutral sites. We rode a great rode record and that VCU win in Richmond to the dance last year. Could be a problem for the Hawks. Ultimately, if they beat Dayton again, none of it matters - they're in.

I think G said it best last season when he said after everyone was raving about team they he was not as bad a coach as some said and he was not as good as they were presently saying. Good observation from where I stand. I do not consider G a particularly good game day coach but when you put the entire picture together (recruiting, graduating and coaching) he is above average. Being honest he doesn't have 3-5 stars throughout his lineup like many coaches around the country but does very well with a boat load of 2 and 3 star level players. Next season he will have about 6 or 7 3 star or higher level players (Wright, Zack, Roberts, Price, Schuler and maybe Washington and Stukes). Yes I know Wright and Zack were 2 star but it is obvious they are at least 3 star players after watching their collegiate careers to date.

I was thinking the same thing except we didn't lose our last 2 regular season games and we were the last team to get in. I truly think Dayton vs SJU is a play in game and in the end the a10 gets 5 in. Couple of thoughts: -SJU can't hit a ft -Their rollouts sucked. -refs let them played kept JW out of fouled trouble, which led to a huge game by him -played their best ball, should be a team nobody wants to play because their is potential for a run

We went 6-2 In Big 5 play the last 2 seasons.
G isn't as bad as people say (and probably not as good) but he's what we need at La Salle
Unfortunate that today was the highlight of the season but at least we had something.
Let's win the A10 and really give the hawk hill faithful indigestion

One was related to Bembry and the other said: next exploration: CBI we don't explore that ish; didn't we turn down invitation to CBI a few years ago? Hawk fans should also keep in mind that there was no real upheaval in conference tourneys last year to steal at-large bids away from teams on/near the bubble. that was an anomaly.
