I give you guys a lot of credit for trying to sugar coat are season but most see it for what it is and that it is nothing short (to date)of a huge disappointment. UNI is nothing more than a very mediocre team.No one said to give up on team but just be honest about how they are playing and it is not good and that is being kind. As far as UNI maybe the farmers in Iowa care but I don't give two corn stalkes about them. You don't have to care about our success, but it does have an impact on your season if this is a bad loss or not. What makes you think UNI is a very mediocre team? because he's very butthurt since we laid a dud on opening day of the year.

Let's see Pantherjoe UNI beat Loyola of M., COE, and La Salle. What makes you think they are better than mediocre. I guess every team that beats us is either, good or very good and none are poor. Of the seven teams we played I will venture a guess and say none will win an NCAA game. Providence may get in as a low seed and lose first round and Manhattan the same assuming the Jackers win their division which is far from a given. Penn State, Quinn., Siena, UNI and Morgan State will get to the NCAA tourney by bus, plane or train otherwise they are not going.

Penn State, Quinn., Siena, UNI and Morgan State will get to the NCAA tourney by bus, plane or train otherwise they are not going. I guess I just have to disagree. None of our wins are great (still hopefull La Salle will be good), but we have no bad losses, and plenty more chances to get more good wins (playing Iowa State, VCU, Virginia, Iona still before MVC where we will play Wichita State and Indiana State twice each). Kind of a small sample size to declare us mediocre, that's all I'm saying. What makes me think we are better than mediocre? There isn't much to go on this year, but last year we were a top 60-70 RPI team most of the year (I think we finished around 80), beat 3 NCAA teams (St. Mary's, Wichita State and Creighton and took Louisville and Memphis to the final minute before losing), finished 3rd behind WSU and Creighton (just one game behind WSU who was a Final Four team, and 2 behind Creighton) in the MVC, and probably should have been in the NIT. WSU was a Final Four team last year out of our league but only went 12-6 in MVC play. And for the last ten years we have been better than mediocre just about every year. I guess that is why. I think UNI could still be an NCAA team but certainly has a shot to be an NIT team, will probably be in the top 100 in RPI and won't be a considered a "bad loss" come tourney time. I guess my surprise stems from the fact that this is the kind of talk you might see after we play and beat a BCS program, but when you see another smaller school who has had success, you usually see more respect from those fanbases who understand what it can be like to be overlooked and undervalued just because of the league you play in. But from what I have seen since I've joined the conversation is that doesn't seem to be the case here really, just a few random people who might be misinformed like any fan base. A-10 is a great league, I always root for your teams in the tourney and I hope to see a bunch of you make a run again. Loved your run last year, I hope you can replicate it. I've always wanted to have an A-10 team to root for, maybe it'll be La Salle. Thanks for the civil conversation guys.

Pantherjoe, I appreciate your input. I agree many of us disrespected your program, although probably unintentionally. The root of the issue is frustration with our own teams play thus far and the unwillingness to dismiss another poor performance by our team as being due to the quality of our opponent. In effect, being the 4th team we lost to was the reason people may have put Northern Iowa down a little. I can't speak for everyone on the board, but generally I think that's what happened. Some people just put down everyone we play, win or lose.
Hopefully you weren't being sarcastic with your last comment, I do think most people were appreciative of your perspective.

Regardless, thanks for visiting Pantherjoe. I tend to agree that your team is better than what is being argued, and I'll be rooting for you guys along the way. Best of luck.

I might have underestimated Northern Iowa a bit following our loss to them. 7 point lead for the Panthers at the half against VCU. Good game so far. Snow Day.

Their frontcourt is pretty skilled. One thing is making me feel better. Is that the teams we have lost to are pretty good teams. Manhattan is real the game I wish we had back. The other teams played better than us and beat us fair and square.

Congrats to Pantherjoe and his UNI team. UNI withstood every run by VCU in second half. Great win. Good game to watch on a snowy day.
