I am talking pure point guard. If you think so how how would you rate him? Is he the best PG in the A 10? Top 10 in the country? Top 20? Many of you know more about other schools talent then me. Just curious where you think he stacks up.

IMO, he probably top 5 in the A10 which is great for the A10. I don't think he top 10 but he has top 25 potential and is a A10 POY candidate.
It is funny you posted this because I was thinking of posting a thread about our guards. It seems him and garland are working extremely hard for the upcoming season. I honestly think people don't talk enough about Garland.

Tyreek doesn't play a flashy enough game to be in consideration for such high ranking in the eyes of national media.

Since he is going to have tons of TV exposure this season, that will hopefully change- but you're right, he's not a highlight-reel guy so Dickie V won't get all amped up about him

Still doubt he will. He's the type of player that can dramatically impact a game while having a minimal impact on the score sheet.

When I think about Tyreek's A game, what he is capable of as a point, I recall back to last years St Joe's game. Tyreek was awesome, demonstrated how a good point can control a game. Loved it! It had to give Martelli some flashbacks.
Have to be excited about the experience level, depth, and versatility of our guard corp led by Tyreek!

Fastest way for Tyreek to get some big-time national pub is to have huge games when we are on ESPN. That will get him talked about across all of their forums. Something like an 18-point, 10-assist, 4-steal game against Temple. That'll get him some notice if he hasn't gotten some before that.
Also, for all the talk about Duren and Garland, I'm just as interested to see how Sam has progressed. I think he has taken a step back offensively as his career has gone on. Love to see him get his 3pt percentage up.

We all recognize that Tyreek's the type of player that wins games for you in intangible ways. Even in high school he was known as the guy that could put up 20+ points in a game, or zero with 7 assists, whichever the team needed in that situation. In terms of games he tangibly won, Tyreek has recently given us wins @ Duquesne and @ Northeastern (both in 2012) with a buzzer beating block and a buzzer beating off balance shot. I agree with you all that the national rankings are reserved for players that win big games in tangible ways and take tons of shots. But that says more about the pundits' point of view limitations than about Tyreek's performance on the court. He is selective and dangerous. His lack of missed shots, and his points per possession stats, though they may be intangibles, are quite easy to appreciate.
