Nice to be recognized, but nothing new for us who are entrenched in the mid-major struggles.

We are in the high major class. The A10 is not in the mid-major category.

We are in the high major class. The A10 is not in the mid-major category. That's what Xavier said a year before they bolted. High major, eh? I didn't know the A10 still had football.

We are in the high major class. The A10 is not in the mid-major category. Historically, Temple, Xavier and UMass (during the Cal years) were considered High Majors.... The rest of the A10 is distinctly "mid-major" with the possible exception of VCU....

Need to get back to the tournament and win a game before LaSalle is considered high mid major

We and conf. are NOT mid-major. However, we are not Big 10 or a POWER conf. We r somewhere in between. It would help all if Rams, Bonnies and Dukes could improve and be around .500.Cannot have too many have-nots that r simply terrible.LSU, StL, VCU and UMASS should be cream but others cannot be mere fodder for conf to earn a true high major designation. But being a little short of being a high major conf isn't bad and focus must be on improving our own facilities and program.

You don't go twenty years of lousy basketball back to a high mid major program in a year. Screamer, you are starting to sound a lot like the jerks who were saying the same thing about us a couple of years ago on the a-10 board. Just keep winning, have some humility, and things will take care of themselves. It took Temple and Xavier more than a year to achieve whatever is that they are being called. I am not about to say anything negative about URI, The Bonnies, or the Dukes.

I am being misunderstood. Not dumping on others. If we were 2-16 last yr, I would say WE have to improve. . Certainly, we have to now maintain. This is what I am saying: There always seems to be a bottom 4 in our conf that cannot compete with bottom 4 in high majors. If our lesser teams-no matter who they might be can compete with the lesser in Big 10 and ACC, then we have tgo be considered a high major; until then, just below that bar. Any problem with this analysis?

Any problem with this analysis? Even the trash men have an important place in society. But I don't think we approach this arbitrary "high-major" mark as a conference in any way, as you said. Some of our bottom-feeders faced off with the DePaul's, Seton Hall's, Rutger's, and Northwestern's of the world and played competitively though. But no conference in the NCAA is immune to having teams playing below the high water mark. I mean it was just 2012 that the Bonnies danced.

I think for last year, and last year only, we had a claim to being above amid-major conference. But that conference was never going to last, it was only a 1 year anomaly before Temple left. Obviously then it got even worse with Butler and X leaving.
Right now, the A-10 is a 3 bid league probably. One of the best Mid-Majors in the country, but definitely a Mid-Major.

And the teams added to make the A-10 a non-mid major conference were teams that brought bids capabilities with them (Butler and VCU).
Davidson and GMU while they make the tourney and have documented success but rely on their conference tourney and auto bid to make it. I do not believe that Davidson coming into the A-10 will add another selection bid to the conference.
With that being said, some of the talent being brought into the conference like what St Joes, URI are doing right now; I could see 4 bids being standard with an occasional 5th in a good year.
UNTIL, the NBE Expands and hopefully only takes STL and Dayton and leaves VCU with us
