I would definitely flip Joe's down to where they have Dayton listed and move Dayton to where Joe's is listed.
I'm not sure Louis can be as good as they were last season from start to finish as the "Majerus motivating factor" is gone and they, more then us, will be the hunted.

Today I learned... Parrish and Gotleib are boners, Rothstein still has my heart, and Matt Norlander is drunk on the job.
But I'll take it all. Generally good news, and considering Rothstein has seen plenty of La Salle in person this summer, that carries some weight. And Norlander's, while tossing up long shots, is interesting.

If you asked me who I'd least want on our side, I'd pick Gottlieb. Worked out perfectly.

I just don't understand the Dayton excitement. The team lost a couple of their quality players, has sub par defensive skills, and iffy coaching but because they have a solid recruiting class and a a transfer who hasn't proven himself whatsoever justifies a huge leap in the A10.
I don't think they be a bad team defiantly an improvement but what justifies them being better than the rest of the pack like URI, GW and St. Joes?

To be fair, we're still going to expect a top 1/3 ranking next season when two transfers and a redshirt who haven't proven themselves whatsoever replace Duren and Mills and Garland.

Yea, but we have a solid core...Dayton's is iffy we didn't have a turnover problem...they did we lose one player, yes it's Galloway but they lost double the ppg we lost. Also, Khalid Lewis played at Delaware, Sibert barely got any minutes at Ohio State.

I think there's a difference between time at Delaware and some time at Ohio State, in all fairness.
But there's doubters pointing to La Salle's question marks similar to how we're pointing out Dayton's gaps. But it's not like they're saying Dayton is a tourney team. There's more on the line when you say a team like La Salle, a mid major who squeaked in last year, will repeat a return without their star player.

Norlander seems to be clueless. I wish I could bet a large sum of money with him that St Louis will finish in the top 5.

Am I nuts to think that it will be a race between us, VCU and St. Louis?
We're also VCU's worst match-up in the league. At least last year, when we held onto the ball really well and shot well from deep. We've got a bunch of ball-handlers, we can run the court, should still shoot well and have two good guys down low who can counter what they offer fairly decently. Oh yeah, we also get them at home.
St. Louis is just the biggest nightmare of a team to play. They're a nightmare for anyone. But maybe they lost momentum from last year. And we also get them at home.
We had a dreadful game against UMass last year and still almost stole that. UMass never lives up to top billing.
There are a bunch of other decent A-10 schools this year and the talent gap isn't all that wide. URI is the ultimate wildcard. Same with George Mason. And there's always some team like Richmond who will end up really good. But the bottom of the league is pretty bad.
Seriously -- it might come down to us beating VCU at home and hoping they don't run through the rest of the league.
Super pumped. I like being a perennial darkhorse. I love we're still in that position despite having a Sweet 16 run and returning everyone but Ramon.

My crystal ball says to wait until next year to have any kind of expectations. Then again my crystal ball is the bottom of my whiskey glass which is always half full.

Kwame Mitchell is gone so we have a shot to beat the Bills. That guy may be the biggest La Salle killer I have ever seen while following La Salle.
La Salle can win the conference but VCU and St. Louis I can live with as favorites. Once again UMASS gets the hype. Good team that is missing that something you need to win. I am also not a Derrick Kellogg fan. Cady Lalane needs to stay on the floor for them to have any change to win the conference.
Sweet 16 was great. I would love to cut down the nets as A-10 tournament champion.

Despite the loss of Xavier, Temple, and Butler, the A10 is still going to be strong top to bottom. There really is no game you can circle as an automatic win. Even the supposed bottom tier teams all have decent talent and can beat the other teams on any given day.
The key to finishing near the top of the league is staying relatively healthy and winning as many of the close games as you can.
A few years ago, I read somewhere that it's not so much what a team loses as what they return and I tend to agree with that. That is why I feel optimistic about the chances of this year's team to do very well again despite the loss of Ramon (assuming they are healthy). I'm not saying they'll be a Sweet 16 team, but I like their chances at getting to the postseason again. But it will not be easy. The only slam-dunk win I see is Siena. I'm a stats fanatic, and after looking at all of the rosters and seeing what every team on the schedule returns, they all have enough firepower to be dangerous.
I see a lot of these so-called experts picking George Mason to finish between 8-10 and that team won 22 games last season and returns over 90% of their scoring, rebounding, assists, and minutes played. If that team finishes 8th, imagine how tough the teams 1 through 7 are going to be. I look at Fordham who may finally be turning the corner. They lose Chris Gaston but they return a lot of good young talent and have a very good recruting class coming in. They return over 77% of their firepower. And they're being picked to finish between 10-13. They will be a solid team this year. It's like this for every team in the league. Just about all of them return enough of their core to be solid teams, and possibly better if a key recruit or transfer has a good year.
This league is going to be a war this year.

Not saying George Mason won't be good, because I'm thinking they'll be better than most are predicting also, but look what league they god the majority of their wins in...

Exactly Duren...I think GM will be a solid program building for the future as well as Davidson, GM probably needs a couple years at least.
As long as VCU is a part of the A10 I have a lot of hope for the conference even if SLU and Dayton leave which probably will happen.
If VCU remains in the conference along with Shaka they will help build the league. Any given year there is a team that surprises us in the A10. La Salle was that team last year, UMass could start to live up to it's expectations year in and out and URI has a ton of promise with Hurley, becoming an NCAA caliber team in a couple years. Hopefully SJU gets rid of Martelli because all in all thats their programs problem right now. Richmond should become NCAA relevant again in time and perhaps GW can build their current team into a quality team as well. The future while looks unpredictable and confusing with all the conference moves could in fact be very bright for La Salle and the rest of the A10.
Another side note, I think the Big East and A10 will benefit from concentrating only on basketball. I think a lot of recruits like programs to be basketball oriented instead of both football and basketball. I think Temple basketball program could suffer in the AAC expessially with their big push in football and louisville departing. This could in turn benefit La Salle and SJU in recruiting positions against Temple.

Maybe.... but Penn St and Providence can emerge as problems for LaSalle and SJU...
Mid-to-top tier A10 program versus lower-to-mid tier Big 10 and Big East programs with GREAT facilities....
Those schools are really trying to make a push in the Philadelphia region....

Recruiting in Philadelphia and going to school in Philly are fundamentally different, IMO. Big name schools have always recruited this city hard, but La Salle still has it's market.

What I meant is that if a team that won 22 games last season and returns 90% of their firepower is the consensus pick to finish between 8th and 10th in the league, then that tells me just how strong this league is going to be and it's going to be a war for La Salle to duplicate last season. And before you downplay their 22 wins, that team beat Virginia, played Bucknell closer than La Salle did, lost by 1 to New Mexico on a neutral court, took Maryland down to the wire at Maryland, and won at Richmond. They have legitimate A10-level talent on that roster.

This league is going to be scary good for years to come if this trend continues. Adding Davidson won't be watering down rivalries or quality either.

I think many people are underrating the addition of Davidson.
