He originally said a few weeks ago that he was looking to go mid-major so he could be more of an impact player but I guess he's had a change of heart. One thing he needs to be careful of though is the over-recruitment that goes on during the spring signing period. Kids who are MAAC/NEC-level recruits start getting A10 interest and offers. A10-level recruits start getting BCS interest and offers. I don't have definitive numbers but I'd be willing to guess that a high percentage of spring signees end up not panning out because they jumped at the higher level offer and end up not playing very much or not at all. In the spring, other than the attention-starved Top 25 kids who like to drag their recruitment out, the high majors are mainly just looking to fill the roster spots with practice players to replace kids who were leaving unexpectedly. They've already signed their main targets in the fall.

Future transfer Zach Johnson joins future transfer Amida Brimah on future La Salle's future roster? Yeah seriously... Maybe one too many futures but it certainly seems to have happened numerous time as we have seen previous targets like Garland.. They learn after the fact you can get plenty of national attention at La Salle heck I have seen Garland and Duren on the cover of ESPN's website numerous times in the last few months. Only a handful of colleges in the country can say that... Plus the new TV deal with ESPN, NBC and CBS is going to be awesome for recruiting... Obviously setting records for national TV games year.. I am going to have put in a request for expansion of my DVR storage...

Future transfer Zach Johnson joins future transfer Amida Brimah on future La Salle's future roster? I wouldn't give up on Zach just yet. Still a chance that G could land him in the spring. I believe that Johnnie Shuler is still in the mix also. Other 2014 guards that G has offered that haven't committed yet are Jarvis Garrett, Austin Tilghman, and Tarin Smith. I'm sure there are others they're talking to that haven't made it onto the internet yet. And if G can't land a 2014 guard, it's not the end of the world. The guard rotation is already set for 2014-15. G has got offers out to at least seven 2015 guards along with another dozen or so the coaching staff is tracking. If he doesn't land a guard in the 2014 class, he'll be able to offer a 2015 recruit immediate playing time with DJ graduating after next season. IMO, the more pressing need is finding a 2014 big man recruit who would be willing to redshirt. It's really an ideal situation for a developing big man to step into. He'd get a year to practice against Jerrell, Steve, Rohan, Jermaine, and Tony and then be able to step in and get minutes since Jerrell and Steve will have graduated. I also don't see Brimah transferring out of UConn. Someone I know who spoke with someone on the La Salle staff said they feel that he will be an impact player at UConn.

If Zach Johnson doesn't sign with La Salle in the fall he is not signing with us. Just not going to happen IMO.
I agree we have other options and also agree we need to find another big man.
When the dust settles G will be standing with a guard and big man to add to the program. No worries about that.

Close to home, will play major minutes as a frosh, and they've got a great recruiter (Joe Dooley from Kansas) as their new head coach. Zach said all along that he was looking to go mid-major, although FGCU in reality is probably a low-major, but that Sweet 16 run did the trick.
I'm sure he'll do very well there.
G will find us a quality guard, but it may have to wait until the 2015 class.
