Yeah, I don't see it. Better chance he sees his PT vary greatly depending on the other team's size and foul trouble in our frontcourt. If anything, I'd bet on his minutes per dropping, not increasing to starter level.

DJ already is a started. He started half the games last year.
And -- ugh -- I *HATE* the starting issue! Someone comes into the game in college basketball no later than 5 minutes into the game. Guys get subbed in and out constantly. Whoever starts only matters for the first 300 seconds of the game, essentially.
It's sort of ingrained in everyone's head that being a starter means something in terms of stature and ego. But in any sort of reality, who cares? A player who sulks about not starting a game is really selfish and someone I don't really want on a team.
That's some Aaric Murray nonsense.

Also, a Khalid/DJ/Sam trio on the court at once would be absolutely devastating on defense, if Lewis' rep lives up to billing.

Coqui, agreed on the overblown aspect of starting, but there's still the bigger picture of PT. Peterson was a starter last year and 4th in minutes and this coming season its probable he'll come off the bench (Duren-Garland-Mills-Wright-Zack) and lose overall PT (those five plus maybe Lewis ahead).

Agreed, it's not so much of a declaration of talent as it is a notch on the belt to have a "starter" title. I think DJ is a best fit to come off the bench with the up tempo style we can force with mills, garland & duren.
The idea is to get out to a quick lead and then shut down the offense with our bench, who will also shoot 40% from 3 on well selected shots (ideally).
I was mainly confused by the point guard comment, since DJ seemed to play wing and not much point last year.

DJ will once again average around 25 minutes per game, play solid defense, shoot a high percentage from three, and be a significant contributor to a winning team. Whether he starts or not means little or nothing to him. He's all about doing whatever it takes for La Salle to win games. I don't want to be overly critical as the author of that article is a La Salle student-athlete, but she should have done a little homework before writing it.

Also, a Khalid/DJ/Sam trio on the court at once would be absolutely devastating on defense, if Lewis' rep lives up to billing. This is really intriguing to me.. How tall is K Lewis? Tyreek, Steve, DJ, Lewis, Mills could be a very strong defensive combo with enough balance on offense by keeping TD3 on the floor to run it or get in the lane to draw a foul and shoot 2 and if the opponent tries to go zone you have a great zone offense facilitator in Zack with 2 or 3 good to very good perimeter shooters in Mills and Petersen and potentially Duren Consider that thought for a minute and then realize the Jerrell and Garland wouldn't even be on the floor and are arguably the most prolific scorers on the roster. Oh and Amar Stukes, Jordan Price and Cleon Roberts are going to be watching the games but they can play next season. We are really in a good solid place right now but I want the next Tyreek Duren and hope its Stukes

"Starting" is merely a title. Hell, Garland wasn't a starter for most of the biggest games of the season, but he often logged more minutes than the starters and had some of most important plays of the season. Who cares who starts.
When DJ has come off the bench, his selective shooting and smart decisions tend to swing momentum at crucial times. He'll still get his time, and obviously his share of starts. But it probably won't be a Tyreek's expense, he's just too good not to have on the court as much as you can. If anything, I see his minutes dropping slightly.
Regardless, DJ will quietly piece together a good game on a regular basis, whether or not the stat sheet shows for it.
