I thought Amar Stukes was redshirted. Why is he on there? Redshirts are always rostered players. Jermaine Davis was on the 2012-13 roster. So was Matt Lopez a couple years ago.

The decision to redshirt has been made, but it's not official until after the season until he doesn't play this season.

Tony Washington can't be listed because he's not eligible correct?

Tony Washington can't be listed because he's not eligible correct? Yes. He's a non-qualifier and not on scholarship so he can't be included on the roster. Took a harder look at the roster last night. Jerrell Wright has added 15 lbs from last season and is up to 255 lbs. He should be a beast this year. Khalid Lewis has added 10 lbs from last season and is up to 195 lbs. Really looking forward to watching Khalid play. As other people have posted, he's already a lockdown defender, but he has supposedly improved his perimeter game and has apparently gotten physically stronger as well. When I saw him play against La Salle two years ago, other than Chaz Williams, he was the fastest opposing guard I saw all season. Tyreek, Tyrone, and Rohan all added 5 lbs. Hoping that the offseason workouts with Jameer helped Ty with his three point shot. If he can be a consistent shooter from beyond the arc, look out.

If Garland can not show improvement with his perimeter shot then we are going to see a lot of zone...

Improved play out of our front court and continued improvement from guys like Duren, Mills and Garland plus the addition of Lewis makes me optimistic about this team once again. The intangibles Ramon brought to the team will be missed, but I think he made enough of a lasting impression that guys will continue to follow his example despite his physical absence. There's a swagger to this team, not cockiness, swagger. These guys know they are good enough now and the pressure and burden of breaking the drought should be a huge weight off their shoulders.
I think we might be even better this season than last season. Not to say the team will have more NCAA tournament success but I think this year's team would beat last year's team and this should be another fun ride.
Plus, we get to max out our DVR capacity recording games....

With Garland it will be all about shot selection. He's a natural born scorer so he'll take some bad shots. He needs to be a little smarter about the ones he takes.

I can say with near certainty that Hank Davis listens to a lot of the same bands I do.

I have heard literally nothing about Hank Davis. Seems like a great athlete and at 5'10" 155 it seems like he could bring something completely different to the table then what G has had at La Salle. does anyone have any info / scouting reports on him? could he matchup defensively against chaz williams?

I think he'll match up well with his warm-up suit except for the last 90 seconds of blowouts.
And that's not a personal attack, any walk-on is not going to get any time on this team.

Hank is a walk-on and will not get much playing time. G is very upfront with the walk-ons and they know this going in. That being said, Hank did well playing for a winning program at Cherry Hill East. If you Google him, there's plenty of info and even some video of him. His dad is an alum as well. Congrats to Hank for making the team. G just doesn't let anyone walk on. I'm sure he's a quality kid.

Seriously, being a walk-on is a tough life I'm sure. Almost all the work of being a scholarship basketball player, with almost none of the perks. I admire anyone who does it.

I deleted a couple of things just FYI. No one said anything overly bad or wrong, but a couple things I don't think we needed here. And some posts relating to those that now have no context without the original posts.

Being a walk on is literally no different than a scholarship player in terms of time commitment throughout the season. He won't be excused from practice or stud hall hours just because he isn't on scholarship. He will travel and miss as much class time as all the other guys.
Being a walk on is basically saying that you are willing to commit yourself fully to something with literally no guarantee of any direct basketball-specific benefit. Plus, he needs to demonstrate he has value in practice by learning every opponent's play book in a couple days so the team can be better prepared for a game he has no shot of playing in.
I love the walk ons in any sport because of the commitment to doing something they represent and their reward is to play 8 minutes a whole season if they are really fortunate.
This isn't to say all the other guys aren't as committed, but they at least get some sort of payoff on the floor on a regular basis.
Congrats to this kid.

At La Salle there is a bit of a trend toward walkons becoming folk heroes (see Matt Sheehan). Kinda cool!

At least he doesn't have to be a run-on, like with that O'Brien guy's football team.
