Here's the jist: • There will be 36 at-large teams and 32 automatic qualifiers next year, granting an automatic bid to the champion of the new American Athletic Conference (AAC) and decreasing the at-large field by one. • Regular season rematches of conference members will be allowed based upon the number of times the teams met prior to the tournament. If one meeting, teams can face each other again in the third round (Round of 32). If two meetings, a Sweet 16 rematch is permissible. If a third meeting occurs in a respective conference tournament, an NCAA rematch cannot occur until the regional finals (Elite Eight). • Any principle can be relaxed if two or more teams from the same conference are among the last four at-large teams selected to the field to participate in the First Four. • The top four teams in the bracket from the same conference must be in separate regions only if they are seeded on lines 1-4. This replaces the former principle in which the top three teams from a given conference would always be placed in separate regions. • The "home crowd disadvantage" provision remains for the top four seeds, not 1-5 as was the case for a period of years. However, said protection again only applies in the second round. • Attempts to avoid rematches of non-conference games will be a priority only in First Four and second-round games, not through the third round as in prior years. insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog/_/name/ncbexperts/id/9529058/breaking-new-ncaa-tournament-bracket-changes-college-basketball

...and 2014 bracket with revised principles in mind. www.explorertownbracketologist.comIt's important to point out the NCAA selection committee revised these principles to create true seedings past the top 4 seeds.

Does this mean no more #12 Oregons and #9 Villanovas? Let's hope the field is more true this year.
The loss of an at large position always feels like a loss for the marginal bubble teams. But when considering it will be taken by a big east team that likely would have qualified at large anyway, it's not a huge loss unless the Big East or American Athletic champs steal a bid (or two) which were otherwise not going to be qualified.
