I'd say that's a combo of as a road team we're not a sexy name to draw in viewers and as a home team our gym is awful and a mess they don't want to deal with

KJMAC ALERT
Please enlighten our friend from STL. The problem lies in that the league works with the networks. So maybe they thought not being in the top 6 preseason wasn't good enough to sell. Also, SJU was going to be a top team going into the season and they saw the light and pulled the plug on that garbage of a TV show in Hawk Talk. I'm sure Martooni's ego was hurt (otherwise what reason would that show be produced the way it was?) but the school used the production money to buy games. The building is not an obstacle to us having home games on tv. ESPN initially complained about the lighting but that was corrected after the first televised game. CSN has never given La Salle a fair shake IMO. Others recently have been quoted on this board about the media perception La Salle has in this town.

But what has this program done to justify a strong showing on television? I'm as big a La Salle supporter as there is but let's be honest, without more postseason success we're going to be an afterthought to television networks when we're fighting for spots against Xavier, Butler, VCU, St. Louis, St. Joe's, etc.

La Salle didn't even get an ESPN3 game. If you look at the preseason picks, La Salle is the only team in the top 10 who won't be on ESPN. They couldn't find a way to get La Salle on ESPN at least once? What postseason success has UMass, St Joe's, Rhode Island, and Duquesne had in recent years? Like jellybean said, it has nothing to do with the building. It's all about perception.

Really think our facilities have nothing to do with our exposure on TV? Kale has said multiple times they have no internet in the arena because too many people are there using their cell phones.

With all due respect STL, what are you talking about?
There is internet in Gola. How else would Gametracker work for example? The Media Room is wired.

During the game, we could hear Kale talking to his producer at every timeout. I wasn't listening too closely, but I think he heard him tell the guy that the internet wasn't working for them because too many people were on their phones. That wouldn't make a ton of sense to me, but I have no doubt it could be true. A lot of things about Gola don't make sense.

The wifi is supposed to be password protected. I am pretty sure the diagnosis is wrong but there were definitely technical difficulties of some sort.

Yea, I'm not going to be one to analyze IT problems but multiple times Kale said they couldn't use the internet because too many people in the arena were using their cell phones. Sounds like they had a mixer failure that really set them back broadcast-wise but I know it's common in some pro-venues to have internet issues when your talking tens of thousands of fans but at the least the Gola should be able to handle 4000+ the media

I do this all week for work.
There was a problem with the internet, but there is always a problem with the internet. Same thing can be said for the Villanova internet or Temple's internet. The issue is laziness from an IT perspective. Basically, piping a big network through a wireless router is a bad idea and I am pretty sure that is what they were doing in this case. All it would take would be a simple comcast business line install and this would be fixed, but it was probably more expedient (and cost efficient) to just run a segment of the La Salle network.
That said, all of the media has the same login AND password. If you are going to cause problems, that would help as the network sees the same person logging in 20 times.
Kevin Bonner saved the day for us writers, though, by finding a mobile hotspot at halftime. Heckuva guy.
